Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Record all daily financial transactions including sales, purchases, receipts, and payments.
- Maintain general ledgers and subsidiary ledgers in accordance with accounting standards.
- Post journal entries and ensure proper classification of expenses and revenues.
- Support month-end and year-end closing processes.
- Handle data entry and ensure timely update of accounting software.
- Verify supplier invoices, purchase orders, and delivery notes before payment.
- Prepare and process vendor payments through cheques, NEFT, RTGS, or online transfer.
- Reconcile vendor statements and resolve discrepancies.
- Maintain records of advances and ensure timely adjustments.
- Coordinate with procurement and admin teams for invoice clarifications.
- Generate and issue sales invoices accurately and on time.
- Track and record collections, ensuring correct allocation to invoices.
- Maintain an Accounts Receivable Aging Report and follow up with customers for overdue payments.
- Reconcile customer accounts periodically.
- Handle daily cash and bank transactions.
- Prepare and maintain bank reconciliation statements.
- Monitor petty cash balances and prepare cash replenishment statements.
- Maintain proper control over cash disbursements and receipt
- Assist in preparation and filing of GST, TDS, PF, ESI, and other statutory returns.
- Support senior staff during tax audits and statutory audits.
- Maintain proper records for all statutory payments and returns.
- Ensure adherence to compliance timelines and documentation requirements.
- Assist in preparation of trial balance, profit and loss account, and balance sheet.
- Prepare schedules and reconciliations for audit and financial review.
- Maintain organized filing of vouchers, invoices, and supporting documents (both soft and hard copies).
- Generate routine MIS reports for management as required.
- Support Senior Accountant / Finance Manager in budgeting, analysis, and audit preparation.
- Coordinate with internal teams (procurement, HR, admin, and operations) for accounting clarifications.
- Provide data and documentation to auditors, banks, or management when needed.
3. Key Skills and Competencies
- Sound knowledge of accounting principles and financial procedures.
- Proficiency in QuickBooks / Zoho Books / Excel.
- Strong numerical, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
- Attention to detail and accuracy in record keeping.
- Good communication and coordination skills.
- Ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple tasks.
- Ethical, trustworthy, and responsible in handling financial data.
- M.Com / MBA (Finance) .
- Knowledge of GST, TDS, and Accounting Standards (IND-AS) preferred.
- 2–5 years of experience in accounting or bookkeeping.
- Experience in managing accounts payable, receivable, and general ledger.
- Exposure to audit support and tax filing is an advantage.
- Industry-specific experience (e.g., healthcare, retail, or services) preferred.
- Accuracy and timeliness of accounting entries.
- Timely vendor and customer reconciliations.
- Proper maintenance of accounting records.
- On-time completion of statutory filings.
- Minimal audit observations.
