Mathematics Teacher
Purpose of the Role
To facilitate effective teaching and learning of Mathematics for students from Classes III to X by creating engaging learning experiences, developing conceptual understanding, strengthening problem-solving skills, and nurturing a positive attitude towards Mathematics in alignment with the school's academic philosophy and standards.
Key ResponsibilitiesTeaching & Learning
- Teach Mathematics to students from Classes III to X as per the prescribed curriculum.
- Plan and deliver well-structured lessons using age-appropriate pedagogical strategies.
- Develop conceptual understanding through activity-based, inquiry-based, and experiential learning approaches.
- Differentiate instruction to meet the learning needs of diverse learners.
- Integrate technology and digital tools into classroom teaching wherever appropriate.
- Promote logical reasoning, analytical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
Curriculum Planning
- Prepare annual plans, unit plans, lesson plans, and assessment schedules.
- Ensure timely completion of the syllabus as per academic timelines.
- Develop worksheets, assignments, projects, and enrichment activities.
- Participate in curriculum review and improvement initiatives.
Assessment & Evaluation
- Design and administer formative and summative assessments.
- Evaluate student work and provide constructive feedback.
- Maintain accurate records of student progress and achievement.
- Analyze assessment data and implement intervention strategies for students requiring support.
Classroom Management
- Establish a safe, respectful, and engaging learning environment.
- Maintain discipline and positive classroom culture.
- Encourage active participation and collaborative learning.
- Ensure effective classroom organization and management.
Student Development
- Identify and support students with learning difficulties or advanced learning needs.
- Mentor students in academic goal setting and improvement.
- Encourage participation in Mathematics Olympiads, quizzes, competitions, and STEM-related activities.
Parent Communication
- Maintain regular communication with parents regarding student progress.
- Participate in Parent-Teacher Meetings (PTMs).
- Address academic concerns professionally and proactively.
School Responsibilities
- Participate in assemblies, school events, exhibitions, celebrations, and special programs.
- Undertake examination duties, invigilation, and result preparation.
- Contribute to committees and co-curricular activities as assigned.
- Follow all school policies, procedures, and safeguarding guidelines.
Professional Development
- Attend training programs, workshops, and professional development sessions.
- Stay updated with modern pedagogical practices and curriculum developments.
- Collaborate with colleagues to share best practices and improve student outcomes.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Mathematics, Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- B.Ed. degree from a recognized institution.
- Master's Degree in Mathematics preferred.
Experience
- Minimum 2–5 years of teaching experience in Mathematics.
- Experience teaching upper primary and secondary grades (III–X) preferred.
- Familiarity with CBSE,IB/ Cambridge, or other recognized curricula.
