Job Summary
The Middle School English Teacher is responsible for delivering high-quality English language and literature instruction that develops students’ reading, writing, speaking, listening, vocabulary, grammar, and critical thinking skills in accordance with the CBSE curriculum. The teacher fosters a love for language and literature through engaging, student-centred learning experiences.
Key Responsibilities
Academic Responsibilities
* Plan and deliver engaging English lessons aligned with the CBSE curriculum.
* Teach reading comprehension, grammar, vocabulary, writing, speaking, and listening skills.
* Develop students’ creative, analytical, and critical thinking abilities through literature.
* Encourage effective communication, public speaking, and presentation skills.
* Integrate technology and innovative teaching strategies into classroom instruction.
* Differentiate instruction to support diverse learning needs.
Classroom Management
* Create a safe, inclusive, and respectful classroom environment.
* Establish positive behaviour expectations and classroom routines.
* Promote collaboration, independent learning, and active participation.
Assessment & Evaluation
* Design and administer formative and summative assessments.
* Evaluate assignments, projects, presentations, and examinations objectively.
* Maintain accurate records of student progress and attendance.
* Provide constructive and timely feedback to students.
Student Development
* Identify students requiring academic support and provide remedial or enrichment activities.
* Mentor students in developing confidence, creativity, and communication skills.
* Encourage participation in debates, elocution, creative writing, drama, literary clubs, and language competitions.
Parent Communication
* Communicate regularly with parents regarding academic progress and student development.
* Participate in Parent-Teacher Meetings (PTMs).
* Suggest home-based strategies to strengthen language skills.
School Responsibilities
* Participate actively in assemblies, school events, literary activities, exhibitions, and competitions.
* Prepare question papers, worksheets, lesson plans, and academic resources.
* Perform examination duties and maintain confidentiality of assessment materials.
* Collaborate with colleagues on curriculum planning and interdisciplinary projects.
* Attend staff meetings, training sessions, and professional development programmes.
Professional Development
* Stay updated with CBSE guidelines, NEP 2020 recommendations, and best practices in English language teaching.
* Participate in workshops, webinars, and certification programmes.
* Share innovative teaching practices with the academic team.
Qualifications
* Bachelor’s Degree in English or a related field.
* B.Ed. (Mandatory).
* CTET qualified (Preferred).
* Minimum 2–5 years of teaching experience in a CBSE school.

* Strong knowledge of grammar, literature, and language pedagogy.
