Your role includes preparing and presenting menu items, maintaining kitchen hygiene standards, managing inventory, and ensuring the smooth operation of daily kitchen activities. To be a perfect fit, you should have strong experience working in café or restaurant kitchens and be comfortable handling a fast-paced environment. Availability during opening hours, weekends, and holidays is essential. Ultimately, you will help maintain food quality, improve kitchen efficiency, and contribute to making our café a favorite local spot.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare and present high-quality dishes aligned with Cafe SABE's menu and brand standards.
- Oversee daily kitchen operations, ensuring smooth food preparation and timely service.
- Maintain consistency in taste, plating, and presentation across all menu items.
- Ensure strict compliance with food safety, hygiene, and sanitation regulations.
- Monitor ingredient stock levels and coordinate procurement with management.
- Lead, motivate, and manage kitchen assistants
- Train weekly on food preparation techniques, portion control, and kitchen safety protocols.
- Foster a culture of accountability, efficiency, and continuous improvement.
- Monitor and control food costs, minimize waste, and manage kitchen inventory.
- Coordinate with vendors to order ingredients and kitchen supplies as needed.
- Maintain organized storage spaces compliant with hygiene standards.
- Develop and suggest new dishes or seasonal menu additions based on customer trends and preferences.
- Work closely with management to enhance menu offerings and drive customer satisfaction.
- Collaborate with baristas and service staff to ensure seamless kitchen-to-front-of-house coordination.
- Advise staff on best practices for food handling and operational efficiency.
- Lead and contribute to new menu development, including conceptualization, testing, and rollout of new dishes
- Continuously experiment with ingredients, techniques, and presentation styles to enhance guest experience
- Drive culinary innovation by staying updated with industry trends and incorporating them into offerings
- Conduct regular recipe trials, tastings, and refinements to ensure quality and uniqueness
- Collaborate with management on seasonal menus and promotional items
Skills
- Strong expertise in café-style cuisine and basic continental dishes.
- Demonstrate hands-on experience supervising ,training & working kitchen staff.
- In-depth knowledge of food safety regulations, hygiene standards, and kitchen best practices.
- Ability to perform efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen while consistently delivering quality.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills to coordinate across kitchen and service teams.
- Strong problem-solving ability to manage challenges during peak service hours.
Qualifications
- 2+ years of proven experience as a Chef in a café, restaurant, or hospitality setting.
- Diploma or certification in Culinary Arts / Hotel Management.
- Experience working in specialty cafés or coffee shops.
- Knowledge of bakery items and desserts
- Demonstrates agility and openness to learning new techniques, tools, and industry trends
- Willingness to continuously upskill and adapt in a fast-paced, evolving environment
- Creative mindset with a passion for innovation in food preparation
