Job Description
7+ years of dedicated engineering experience in enterprise-scale data centers, acting as the Tier-3 Subject Matter Expert (SME) for business-critical file and block storage infrastructure.
Master-level proficiency in NetApp ONTAP 9.x CLI and GUI, clustered Data ONTAP (cDOT) architectures, Storage Virtual Machines (SVMs), and logical routing.
Implementation of Storage and its configurations end to end
Advanced knowledge of Fibre Channel (FC) protocol mapping, non-blocking fabric designs, World Wide Name (WWN) addressing, and N-Port ID Virtualization (NPIV).
Direct hands-on administration experience with secondary/other enterprise storage systems, including IBM System Storage arrays, legacy tape automation devices (e.g., IBM TS3200 Library), and IBM , HP storage systems.
Advanced understanding of storage geometry alignment, write amplification avoidance, and application-specific formatting rules
Experience integrating storage endpoints with enterprise virtualization platforms (VMware vSphere/ESXi), backup frameworks (Veeam Backup & Replication), and identity providers (Active Directory/LDAP/OIDC).
Design, test, and manage enterprise replication pipelines using synchronous/asynchronous SnapMirror and long-term SnapVault protection topologies.
Author and validate step-by-step disaster recovery runbooks, managing target SVM activations, storage path re-mappings, and snapshot-level data restorations
Architect, deploy, and configure multi-node NetApp ONTAP clusters, creating isolated Storage Virtual Machines (SVMs) and provisioning aggregate pools.
Execute advanced SAN fabric configuration on Brocade switches, implementing peer zoning, single-initiator/multiple-target zoning definitions, and WWN bindings.
Provision and maintain secure storage connection endpoints using native Fibre Channel (FC), iSCSI, NFS (v3/v4), and SMB/CIFS block and file layouts.
Manage volume allocations, qtrees, quotas, and automated space-guarantee policies across global storage pools.
Implement and monitor ONTAP data reduction features, optimizing compression, inline deduplication, compaction, and fabric tiering to object storage.
Maintain security compliance over storage planes, managing NetApp export policies, share permissions, volume encryption (NVE/NAE), and Brocade administrative role allocations.
Troubleshoot microsecond-level latency spikes, queue depth bottlenecks, and I/O degradation patterns using ONTAP CLI diagnostics and Active IQ Unified Manager.
Debug SAN fabric connectivity issues, bit errors, and frame drops by analyzing Brocade switch logs, registers, and SFP transceiver light levels.
Configure and troubleshoot host-side asymmetric logical unit access (ALUA) routing rules and multipath I/O (MPIO) drivers to guarantee seamless path failovers.
Plan and execute non-disruptive storage migrations across frames utilizing NetApp Volume Move, SnapMirror, or host-level logical volume managers.
