The Health & Safety Officer is responsible for ensuring a safe, healthy, and legally compliant workplace within the factory. The role involves implementing safety programs, conducting risk assessments, ensuring compliance with the Factories Act and Karnataka Factory Rules, investigating incidents, and promoting a strong safety culture across the organization.
Key Responsibilities
1. Safety Management
- Develop, implement, and monitor workplace health and safety policies and procedures.
- Conduct routine safety inspections and audits of factory operations.
- Identify workplace hazards and recommend corrective and preventive actions.
- Monitor compliance with safe work practices and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
2. Legal & Regulatory Compliance
- Ensure compliance with the Factories Act, 1948, Karnataka Factories Rules, fire safety regulations, and other applicable laws.
- Maintain statutory records, permits, licenses, and safety documentation.
- Coordinate with Factory Inspectorate, Fire Department, and other regulatory authorities during inspections and audits.
3. Risk Assessment & Hazard Control
- Conduct Hazard Identification and Risk Assessments (HIRA), Job Safety Analysis (JSA), and workplace risk assessments.
- Recommend engineering and administrative controls to reduce workplace risks.
- Monitor high-risk activities such as confined space entry, hot work, working at height, and lifting operations.
4. Incident Investigation
- Investigate accidents, incidents, near misses, and occupational illnesses.
- Perform root cause analysis and implement corrective actions.
- Prepare incident reports and submit statutory reports where required.
5. Training & Awareness
- Conduct safety induction programs for employees, contractors, and visitors.
- Organize toolbox talks, mock drills, safety campaigns, and emergency response training.
- Promote safety awareness and employee participation in safety initiatives.
- .Investigate accidents, incidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions, and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
6. Emergency Preparedness
- Develop and maintain emergency response plans.
- Coordinate fire drills, evacuation exercises, and first-aid preparedness.
- Ensure firefighting equipment and emergency systems are maintained and functional.
7. PPE & Occupational Health
- Ensure proper selection, distribution, and use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Monitor workplace health conditions, ergonomics, and occupational hygiene standards.
- Coordinate periodic medical examinations and health surveillance programs where applicable.
Qualifications
- Diploma/Degree in Industrial Safety, Environmental Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
- Diploma in Industrial Safety (DIS), Advanced Diploma in Industrial Safety (ADIS), NEBOSH, IOSH, or equivalent certification preferred.
- Knowledge of Factories Act, Karnataka Factory Rules, ISO 45001, and EHS management systems.
Experience
- 4+ years of experience in manufacturing, engineering, automotive, pharmaceutical, chemical, or industrial operations.
- Experience in safety audits, incident investigations, and regulatory compliance preferred.

Pay: ₹40,000.00 - ₹60,000.00 per month
