Role Overview
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Student Success & Employability Coach to support learners in achieving their academic, professional, and career goals. The successful candidate will provide personalised career coaching, employability guidance, and professional development support, helping students build the skills, confidence, and professional presence required to succeed in today's competitive job market.
The role involves mentoring students throughout their career development journey, including CV and LinkedIn optimisation, portfolio development, interview preparation, networking strategies, and job-search planning.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver one-to-one and group coaching sessions to students and graduates.
- Assess individual career aspirations and develop tailored employability action plans.
- Review, optimise, and provide feedback on CVs, cover letters, and LinkedIn profiles.
- Guide learners in developing professional portfolios, project showcases, and GitHub repositories where applicable.
- Conduct interview preparation sessions, including competency-based and technical mock interviews.
- Provide guidance on job-search strategies, networking, personal branding, and professional communication.
- Support students in identifying suitable career pathways, internships, and employment opportunities.
- Monitor learner progress and maintain accurate records of coaching activities and outcomes.
- Collaborate with academic and training teams to align employability support with industry requirements.
- Stay informed about current recruitment trends, labour market developments, and employer expectations.
Essential Requirements
- Proven experience in career coaching, employability support, recruitment, talent acquisition, student mentoring, or professional development.
- Strong knowledge of CV writing, LinkedIn optimisation, personal branding, and job-search techniques.
- Experience delivering interview coaching and mock interview sessions.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to motivate, guide, and support individuals from diverse educational and professional backgrounds.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple learners simultaneously.
- Good understanding of current recruitment practices and employer expectations.
Desirable Requirements
- Experience working within higher education, professional training, apprenticeships, bootcamps, or workforce development programmes.
- Knowledge of digital portfolios, GitHub, and project-based learning environments.
- Relevant qualifications in career guidance, coaching, human resources, education, or related disciplines.
