Job Summary
We are seeking dedicated and hardworking Commis Chefs (I, II, III) to join our kitchen team. The ideal candidates will assist in food preparation, maintain hygiene standards, and support senior chefs in delivering high-quality dishes.
Commis Chefs will work across different kitchen sections such as North Indian, South Indian, Continental, and Tandoor, ensuring smooth day-to-day kitchen operations while learning and growing within the culinary team.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the preparation and cooking of food as per instructions from senior chefs
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of kitchen workstations
- Follow recipes, portion control, and presentation standards
- Support in cutting, chopping, marination, and basic cooking tasks
- Ensure proper storage of food items as per hygiene standards
- Assist in all kitchen operations including breakfast, lunch, and dinner service
- Maintain high standards of food safety and sanitation
- Help in stock rotation (FIFO method) and inventory management
- Clean kitchen equipment, utensils, and work areas regularly
- Support senior chefs during busy service hours
- Learn and adapt to different kitchen sections
- Follow instructions from Head Chef, Sous Chef, and CDP
Requirements
- Basic to intermediate knowledge of cooking (depending on level)
- Willingness to learn and grow in the kitchen environment
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Good teamwork and communication skills
- Basic knowledge of food safety and hygiene
- Culinary training or hotel management course preferred
Knowledge & Expertise
- Understanding of kitchen operations and food preparation basics
- Knowledge of HACCP and hygiene standards
- Familiarity with basic cutting techniques and cooking methods
- Awareness of kitchen equipment usage and safety
- Ability to follow instructions and standard recipes
Level DifferentiationCommis III (Entry Level)
- Assists in basic preparation like cutting vegetables, cleaning, and organizing
- Works under close supervision
- Learns basic kitchen operations
Commis II (Intermediate Level)
- Handles basic cooking tasks under supervision
- Assists in a specific section (e.g., dosa, curry, tandoor)
- Has good knowledge of ingredients and preparation
Commis I (Advanced Level)
- Handles a section independently with minimal supervision
- Assists senior chefs in cooking and plating
- Trains junior staff (Commis II & III)
- Ensures quality and consistency in dishes
