Job Overview
Quantum Pulse Technologies is seeking an analytical and forward-thinking Quantum Computing Engineer to join our research and engineering team at the SECE Innovation Hub, Coimbatore. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, simulating, and implementing quantum algorithms, software frameworks, and hybrid quantum-classical workflows. Operating from our state-of-the-art innovation center, you will bridge quantum physics and computer science to develop optimization solutions, quantum machine learning models, and simulation tools for real-world application challenges.
Key Responsibilities
- Quantum Algorithm Design: Formulate, implement, and benchmark quantum algorithms (e.g., VQE, QAOA, Grover's, Shor's, and QFT) for optimization, cryptography, and materials science applications.
- Hybrid Quantum-Classical Systems: Develop and integrate hybrid algorithms combining classical machine learning/optimization libraries with quantum execution environments.
- SDK & Software Development: Build quantum software tools using frameworks such as IBM Qiskit, PennyLane, Cirq, or Amazon Braket.
- Quantum Simulation & Error Mitigation: Run and optimize algorithms on quantum simulators and noisy intermediate-scale quantum (NISQ) devices, implementing pulse-level controls and error-mitigation techniques.
- Benchmarking & Analysis:Analyze algorithmic performance, gate depths, fidelity, and hardware limitations to optimize execution on superconducting or trapped-ion hardware topologies.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work alongside software engineers, data scientists, and research leads at the SECE Innovation Hub to translate domain-specific problems into quantum computational models.
- Documentation & R&D: Document software architecture, algorithm specifications, and contribute to research reports, IP generation, and patent disclosures.
- Architected internal project requirements and facilitated high-impact training programs to upskill enthusiastic internal talent.
Required Skills & Qualifications
Core Technical Skills:
- Experience: 3 to 5 years of relevant engineering experience in software development, data science, or computational physics, with at least 1–2 years focused directly on quantum computing.
- Quantum Development Frameworks: Hands-on experience with Qiskit, PennyLane, Cirq, or Forest (PyQuil).
- Programming Languages: High proficiency in Python and scientific computing libraries (NumPy, SciPy, SymPy, PyTorch, or TensorFlow); familiarity with C++ is a plus.
- Theoretical Foundations: Strong understanding of linear algebra, complex vector spaces, quantum mechanics principles (superposition, entanglement, interference), and quantum gate architecture.
- Cloud Quantum Platforms: Practical exposure to cloud-based quantum processing units (QPUs) via IBM Quantum Platform, AWS Braket, or Azure Quantum.
Soft Skills:
- Exceptional mathematical, analytical, and abstract problem-solving capabilities.
- Strong written and technical communication skills for presenting research findings.
- Passion for continuous learning and driving innovation in deep-tech domains.
Preferred / Good-to-Have Skills
- Master’s degree or Ph.D. coursework in Quantum Information Science, Physics, Applied Mathematics, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Experience with Quantum Machine Learning (QML) or Quantum Key Distribution (QKD) protocols.
- Contributions to open-source quantum software projects or published papers in quantum computing forums.
