Job Title: Powder Coating Supervisor
Department: Production – Surface Treatment / Finishing

Reporting To: Production Manager / Plant Head
Job Purpose
To supervise and control the complete pre-treatment and powder coating process for sheet metal enclosures and switchgear panels, ensuring high-quality finish, corrosion resistance, productivity, safety, and cost efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
1.Process Supervision – Pre treatment Line
Supervise complete Spray pre treatment system Monitor and control:
Ensure proper phosphating coating weight (g/m²)
Troubleshoot issues like:
Poor adhesion
Flash rusting
Patchy phosphating
Oil contamination
Coordinate with chemical suppliers for corrective actions
2.Powder Coating Line Supervision
Ensure proper curing parameters:
Oven temperature
Dwell time
Control DFT (Dry Film Thickness) as per specification (80–120 microns typical for switchgear)
Monitor first-pass yield and reduce rejections
Handle shade changes and color changeover effectively
3.Quality Control Testing
4. Problem Solving Process Improvement
Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for:
Peeling
Orange peel
Pinholes
Poor leveling
Uneven coating
Implement corrective preventive actions (CAPA)
Reduce powder consumption rework rate
Improve transfer efficiency
5. Manpower Production Management
Supervise line operators and helpers
Plan shift schedules
Ensure daily production targets
Maintain 5S and shop-floor discipline
6.Safety Compliance
Ensure safe handling of chemicals
Maintain MSDS records
Ensure proper ventilation and PPE usage
Monitor effluent treatment and waste disposal
Qualification
Diploma / BE in Mechanical / Production / Chemical Engineering
3-5 years of experience in:
Minimum 3–5 years in supervisory role
