Role Summary
We are looking for an FEA / Structural Integrity Engineer to support integrity engineering and life-extension assessments for upstream offshore assets — fixed and floating platforms, subsea pipelines, risers, topside piping, and pressure vessels. The role combines Risk Based Inspection (RBI), Risk Based Work Scheduling, and Fitness-for-Service (FFS) assessments with Finite Element Analysis (FEA)-based structural and mechanical evaluation to support asset life extension decisions.
The candidate should be able to work across one or more of the following domains: Offshore Structures, Pipelines & Risers, Process Piping, and Pressure Vessels.
Key Responsibilities (by discipline)
1. Offshore Structures
- Structural integrity assessment of fixed offshore platforms (jackets, topsides, decks) per API RP 2A-WSD/LRFD.
- In-place, fatigue, and pushover (ultimate strength) analysis of jacket structures using SACS/GT-STRUDL or equivalent.
- Assessment of structural degradation, damage, and corrosion-related capacity reduction.
- Life extension studies for aging offshore structures — remaining useful life estimation.
- Review of metocean, seismic, and boat impact load cases as applicable to structural adequacy checks.
2. Pipelines & Risers
- Fitness-for-Service assessment of subsea pipelines and risers per API 579-1/ASME FFS-1.
- Corrosion assessment, wall-thickness evaluation, and remaining life calculation for pipelines/risers.
- Riser stress analysis, span assessment, and free-span fatigue evaluation.
- Support for pipeline integrity management plans, including RBI-based inspection interval optimization.
- Familiarity with DNV-ST-F101/DNV-RP-F101/F108 or equivalent pipeline design/assessment codes is an advantage.
3. Process Piping
- FFS and remaining life assessment of topside process piping systems per ASME B31.3 and API 579-1/ASME FFS-1.
- Piping circuitization and Thickness Measurement Location (TML) development.
- Flexibility and stress analysis using CAESAR II or equivalent.
- Damage mechanism review (corrosion, erosion, fatigue) and integration into RBI studies.
4. Pressure Vessels & Fixed Equipment
- Design and in-service evaluation of pressure vessels per ASME Section VIII Div. 1 (and Div. 2 where applicable).
- FFS assessments for vessels with identified damage — local metal loss, pitting, crack-like flaws, blisters/laminations, dents.
- Remaining life and re-rating calculations for in-service equipment.
- Support MAWP determination and inspection interval recommendations arising from FFS outcomes.
Work Experience
Education:
- Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Mechanical, Structural, Civil, or Naval/Offshore Engineering.
Experience:
- 6–15 years of relevant experience in Oil & Gas upstream/offshore integrity engineering, structural analysis, or FFS/RBI consulting.
- Prior experience with an operator, EPC, or integrity engineering consultancy serving offshore/upstream assets is preferred.
Technical Skills:
- Strong working knowledge of API RP 2A (offshore structures), ASME Section VIII Div. 1 (pressure vessels), API 579-1/ASME FFS-1 (fitness-for-service), API RP 580/581 (RBI), and ASME B31.3/B31.4/B31.8 (piping/pipelines) as relevant to assigned discipline.
- Hands-on FEA experience using tools such as SACS, ANSYS, Abaqus, CAESAR II, or GT-STRUDL (per discipline).
- Understanding of corrosion mechanisms, damage mechanisms, materials, welding, and NDT methods.
- Ability to independently perform mechanical/structural calculations and document technical assessment reports.
- Exposure to offshore safety cases, HSE risk considerations, and operating philosophy of upstream facilities is a plus.
