Role: Android Developer
Job Summary
We are looking for an experienced Android Developer with a minimum of 3.5 years of hands-on experience in native Android application development. The ideal candidate should have strong practical knowledge of Kotlin, Java, Android SDK, Fragments, Android lifecycle, MVVM/MVI, REST APIs, Retrofit, Coroutines, and Dagger/Hilt.
You will be responsible for developing, maintaining, debugging, and optimizing production-level Android applications while following clean, scalable, and maintainable coding practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, test, and maintain native Android applications.
- Build scalable and maintainable applications using Kotlin and Java.
- Work with MVVM/MVI, Repository Pattern, Clean Architecture, and modular application structures.
- Develop Android UI using Activities, Fragments, XML, RecyclerView, ViewBinding/DataBinding, and Material Design.
- Handle Activity and Fragment lifecycle, configuration changes, navigation, and back-stack management.
- Integrate REST APIs using Retrofit and OkHttp.
- Implement proper API error handling, timeouts, retries, and network-failure scenarios.
- Use Kotlin Coroutines, Flow, LiveData, ViewModel, Lifecycle components, and WorkManager.
- Implement dependency injection using Dagger/Hilt, including modules, scopes, and ViewModel injection.
- Work with local data storage using Room, DataStore, SharedPreferences, or similar technologies.
- Debug and resolve crashes, ANRs, memory leaks, performance issues, and production defects.
- Optimize application performance, startup time, memory usage, and responsiveness.
- Follow Android security, lifecycle, performance, and coding best practices.
- Use Git for branching, merging, pull requests, and conflict resolution.
- Participate in code reviews and contribute to improving overall code quality.
- Understand existing production code and enhance it without impacting existing functionality.
Required Technical Skills Android
- Strong hands-on experience with native Android development.
- Good understanding of Android SDK, Android Studio, Gradle, and Android project structure.
- Strong knowledge of Activity and Fragment lifecycle.
- Experience with Fragment transactions, Navigation Component, back-stack handling, and lifecycle-aware components.
- Understanding of Android permissions, services, broadcast receivers, notifications, and background execution limitations.
Kotlin & Java
- Strong hands-on experience with Kotlin.
- Good working knowledge of Java.
- Strong understanding of OOP, collections, null safety, extension functions, data classes, sealed classes, and Kotlin best practices.
- Ability to write clean, readable, reusable, and maintainable code.
Architecture
- Strong practical experience with MVVM.
- Understanding of MVI and Clean Architecture is an advantage.
- Experience with Repository Pattern, separation of concerns, use cases, and modular application design.
Dependency Injection
- Hands-on experience with Dagger or Hilt.
- Understanding of modules, dependency injection, scopes, qualifiers, and ViewModel injection.
Jetpack Components
Hands-on experience with:
- ViewModel
- LiveData
- Kotlin Flow
- Lifecycle Components
- Navigation Component
- Room Database
- WorkManager
- Paging Library, if applicable
Networking
- Experience integrating REST APIs.
- Strong knowledge of Retrofit and OkHttp.
- Experience with interceptors and authentication mechanisms.
- Knowledge of JSON parsing using Gson, Moshi, or Kotlin Serialization.
- Ability to handle network failures, timeouts, retries, and slow-network conditions.
Git & Collaboration
- Good working knowledge of Git.
- Experience with branching, merging, pull requests, and conflict resolution.
- Comfortable participating in code reviews and technical discussions.
Education
Required: Bachelor's or equivalent degree in:
- Computer Science
- Information Technology
- Software Engineering
- Computer Applications
- Any directly related Computer/IT discipline
Preferred: Master's degree such as MCA, M.Sc. Computer Science, M.Tech, or equivalent.
CDAC Candidates
CDAC candidates are eligible only if their prior academic qualification is in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a directly related computer discipline.
Experience Requirements
- Minimum 3.5 years of professional, hands-on Android application development experience.
- Experience should primarily involve native Android development and production applications.
- Candidates whose experience is limited mainly to support activities, testing, or minor bug fixing may not be suitable for this role.
Good to Have
- Experience with Clean Architecture and modular Android projects.
- Firebase experience, including Crashlytics, Analytics, FCM, or Remote Config.
- Experience with Google Maps and location services.
- Experience with payment gateway integration.
- Knowledge of Android performance profiling and memory-leak detection.
- Experience with Play Store release and deployment processes.
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines.
- Experience working with large-scale or production Android applications.
Candidate Profile
