Position Profile
Weaver is seeking a senior associate to join our growing public sector team. This role is ideal for early-career professionals looking to build a strong foundation in public sector auditing. As a senior associate, you will work closely with managers, senior managers, and firm leadership to support audit engagements, apply industry standards, and further develop your technical and professional skills. Weaver currently follows a hybrid work model, and the senior associate will be required to work from the office at least four days per week.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in performing financial and compliance audits for public sector clients.
- Support the planning, execution, and documentation of audit procedures.
- Conduct fieldwork, gather audit evidence, and prepare workpapers.
- Perform testing in accordance with GAGAS (Yellow Book) and other applicable standards.
- Assist in drafting audit findings, schedules, and supporting documentation.
- Stay updated with public sector accounting principles, regulations, and audit requirements.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure timely and accurate completion of audit tasks.
- Contribute to risk assessment procedures and support improvement of audit processes.
- Participate in training programs to enhance technical and professional skills.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field.
- Pursuing CPA, CA, ACCA, or planning to obtain a professional certification.
- 2+ years of audit or accounting experience (internship experience is a plus).
- Basic understanding of public sector accounting, government regulations, or willingness to learn.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
- Attention to detail and commitment to high-quality work.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience (internship or project-based) with government, public sector, or Not for Profit audits.
- Familiarity with Yellow Book or Uniform Guidance audits.
- Experience with Commercial/Energy/Investment Funds Audit
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to interact professionally with diverse stakeholders.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, audit software, and documentation tools.
