Position Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Laboratory Chemist to ensure the quality, safety, and compliance of our fertilizer products. The ideal candidate will conduct rigorous physical and chemical analyses of raw materials, in-process samples, and finished products (such as Urea, DAP, NPK blends, and specialty fertilizers). You will play a critical role in maintaining manufacturing efficiency and ensuring that all products meet strict agricultural, environmental, and regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities
Quality Control & Analysis
- Perform quantitative and qualitative chemical analyses on raw materials, intermediates, and continuous production samples.
- Test finished fertilizer products for critical parameters, including Nitrogen (N), Phosphorus (P), Potassium (K) content, moisture levels, bulk density, pH, and trace micronutrients.
- Conduct environmental monitoring and effluent testing to ensure plant discharge meets local environmental regulations.
- Prepare laboratory reagents and standardize chemical solutions used in daily testing.
Equipment Operation & Maintenance
- Operate, calibrate, and troubleshoot advanced analytical instrumentation, including AAS (Atomic Absorption Spectrometers), ICP-OES, UV-Vis spectrophotometers, auto-titrators, and moisture analyzers.
- Perform routine preventive maintenance on laboratory equipment and log all maintenance activities.
- Ensure adequate inventory of laboratory chemicals, glassware, and consumables, initiating purchase requests as needed.
Documentation & Compliance
- Accurately record and document all test results in the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) or standard logbooks.
- Generate daily, weekly, and monthly quality reports for the production and management teams.
- Identify out-of-specification (OOS) results, immediately notify plant operations, and assist in root-cause investigations.
- Ensure all laboratory activities comply with ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and relevant agricultural/chemical regulatory standards.
Health & Safety
- Strictly adhere to Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Handle hazardous chemicals (such as strong acids, ammonia, and reactive materials) safely, utilizing appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe laboratory workspace.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Education: Bachelor’s degree (B.S. / B.Sc.) in Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, or a closely related field.
- Experience: Minimum of 2–4 years of laboratory experience in chemical manufacturing; specific experience in the fertilizer, agrochemical, or heavy chemical industry is highly preferred.
- Technical Skills:
- Hands-on proficiency with analytical techniques (Wet Chemistry, Titrimetry, Gravimetry, Spectrophotometry, Chromatography).
- Familiarity with LIMS and basic data analysis software.
- Knowledge: Deep understanding of chemical safety protocols, MSDS/SDS navigation, and regulatory compliance regarding hazardous materials.
- Soft Skills: Strong analytical problem-solving abilities, high attention to detail, and the ability to communicate effectively with production operators and plant management.
Pay: ₹30,000.00 - ₹35,000.00 per month
