The VTL Operator is responsible for operating and maintaining Vertical Turning Lathe machines to manufacture large and heavy precision components as per engineering drawings and specifications. The role requires knowledge of machining processes, tooling, and quality inspection.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate Vertical Turning Lathe (VTL) machines to machine large components.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and work instructions.
- Set up workpieces, tools, and fixtures on the VTL machine.
- Select appropriate cutting tools, speeds, and feeds for machining operations.
- Monitor machine operations to ensure accuracy and surface finish.
- Perform in-process inspections using measuring instruments such as vernier calipers, micrometers, dial gauges, and bore gauges.
- Make necessary adjustments to maintain product quality and tolerance.
- Maintain machine cleanliness and perform routine maintenance.
- Record production data and report machine issues or defects to the supervisor.
- Follow all safety procedures and company quality standards.
