Job Summary
The Senior Accountant is responsible for managing financial records, budgeting, taxation, payroll, and accounting operations for construction projects and company activities. The role ensures accurate financial reporting, cost control, statutory compliance, and smooth coordination with project teams, vendors, subcontractors, and management.
Key Responsibilities
Accounting & Financial Management
- Maintain and oversee day-to-day accounting operations.
- Prepare financial statements, ledgers, and monthly reports.
- Monitor project-wise expenses, budgets, and cost allocations.
- Ensure accurate recording of all financial transactions.
Accounts Payable & Receivable
- Process vendor bills, subcontractor payments, and client invoices.
- Track receivables and follow up on outstanding payments.
- Reconcile supplier statements and resolve discrepancies.
Project Accounting
- Monitor construction project costs and cash flow.
- Prepare project cost reports and profitability analysis.
- Coordinate with project managers for billing and budget tracking.
- Verify work orders, purchase orders, and payment certifications.
Taxation & Compliance
- Handle GST, TDS, VAT, or other applicable tax filings.
- Ensure compliance with statutory and financial regulations.
- Assist during audits and prepare required documentation.
- Maintain proper accounting records as per company policies.
Payroll & Banking
- Process employee payroll and reimbursements.
- Manage bank transactions, reconciliations, and cash flow.
- Coordinate with banks for guarantees, loans, and financial matters.
Reporting & Coordination
- Prepare MIS reports for management review.
- Support budgeting and financial forecasting activities.
- Coordinate with auditors, consultants, vendors, and internal departments.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Commerce, Accounting, or Finance (B.Com / M.Com).
- CA Inter / CMA / MBA Finance preferred.
- Minimum 5+ years of accounting experience in civil or construction industry.
Required Skills
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting.
- Experience with construction accounting and project billing.
- Familiarity with GST, TDS, taxation, and statutory compliance.
- Proficiency in Tally, ERP software, and MS Excel.
- Good analytical and communication skills.
