Roles & Responsibilities
- Responsible for leading and overseeing all physical and chemical quality tests on all raw materials to be consumed within the Ferro Alloy Unit (FAU).
- Oversee quality testing for Finished Goods (FG) and slag produced from all FAU furnaces, as well as all outputs from the Sinter, Briquette, and Jigging units (collectively known as the Ancillary Units), utilizing relevant equipment and as per departmental procedures.
- Responsible for ensuring appropriate documentation of the same and the loading of finished goods for dispatch to customers.
A. Quality Lab Management
- 1. Lead, schedule, and oversee all physical and chemical quality tests performed on raw materials (iron ore, manganese ore, silica, quartz, coal, coke, dolomite, etc.) for the Ferro Alloy Unit and ensure appropriate documentation and reporting of the same.
- 2. Oversee the execution of similar testing activities on finished goods and slag from the FAU furnaces, as well as from the Ancillary units utilizing appropriate methods, relevant materials, equipment, and procedures.
- 3. Oversee the execution of additional quality lab activities, such as sample collection from all furnaces, yard material testing prior to feeding, cross-lab quality analysis & reporting, and disposable material tests.
- 4. Ensure appropriate documentation of all tests performed in the FAU quality lab, and maintenance of the same in dedicated internal systems, SAP included, as per regulatory and departmental SOPs.
- 5. Ensure the proper maintenance and calibration of all lab equipment and machinery, as well as appropriate stocks of the chemicals consumed for quality tests.
- 6. Validate maintenance requests for lab equipment and purchase requisitions for required chemicals to the Purchase department as and when they are raised.
B. Material Handling
- 7. Physically verify the receipt of raw materials and unloading at designated locations in the FAU RM yard, validate associated documentation, and oversee timely testing & reporting of the same.
- 8. Physically verify the receipt of other lab materials procured from the Store, as and when required.
- 9. Oversee the allocation of RM samplers for sample collection & analysis activities, and accordingly inform the Raw Materials team in case of any deviances or non-compliances.
- 10. Oversee accurate quality grade labeling of raw materials and ensure the appropriate information is shared with the Raw Material (RM) team to initiate the RM unloading process in the designated location of the material yard.
- 11. Oversee accurate quality grade labeling of finished goods and its interim storage, as well as the appropriate material mixing required to match grade requirements prior to loading finished goods into outbound vehicles for dispatch as per sales orders.
- 12. Oversee adherence to BIS and other regulatory compliances while testing finished goods and assigning quality grades to them.
- 13. Support the dispatch process by providing appropriate/necessary documentation (quality certificates, purchase orders, etc.) required for each dispatched order.
- 14. Monitor the dispatch process and ensure correct material and quantities are loaded in adherence to the purchase orders.
C. General Administration
- 15. Prepare, maintain, and appropriately execute shift schedules and ensure appropriate manpower availability at all times for uninterrupted quality testing of FAU and associated materials.
- 16. Prepare and submit daily manpower utilization reports to relevant stakeholders.
- 17. Oversee the shift-wise data entry and documentation of all quality tests performed and their results.
- 18. Collate shift-wise quality test datasets to prepare daily QC reports to be shared and analyzed at daily review meetings (DRMs).
- 19. Represent the FAU Quality lab at CRM, TOCs, MAT, and SCM events and present the same datasets for further analysis, as required.
- 20. Ensure all quality lab workforce always adheres to safety and regulatory compliances, SOPs, and procedures, and perform SOP-defined activities in cases of emergencies.
- 21. Perform any additional tasks as requested by senior management.
5. Desired Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or a related field.
- Master's degree preferred.
Desired Experience
- 10+ years of experience in a raw material testing role, preferably in a Ferro Alloy plant or steel industry.
- 4+ years of leadership experience.
Pay: ₹90,000.00 - ₹150,000.00 per month
