Job Summary
The Commercial Engineer is responsible for managing the commercial and contractual aspects of construction projects. This includes quantity verification, billing, cost control, subcontract management, variation claims, procurement coordination, and ensuring that project activities comply with contractual requirements and budget targets.
Key ResponsibilitiesContract Management
- Review and interpret contract documents, specifications, and drawings.
- Ensure compliance with contractual terms and conditions.
- Prepare and manage claims, variations, and extension of time (EOT) submissions.
- Support dispute resolution and contract negotiations.
Cost Control and Budgeting
- Monitor project costs and expenditures.
- Prepare project budgets, cash flow forecasts, and cost reports.
- Identify cost-saving opportunities and control project expenses.
- Analyze cost variances and recommend corrective actions.
Quantity Surveying and Billing
- Verify quantities executed at the site.
- Prepare and submit client invoices and interim payment applications.
- Evaluate subcontractor bills and certify payments.
- Maintain records of measurements and work progress.
Procurement and Subcontract Management
- Coordinate with procurement teams for material and equipment requirements.
- Prepare bid comparisons and assist in vendor selection.
- Administer subcontract agreements and monitor subcontractor performance.
- Ensure timely processing of purchase orders and payments.
Claims and Variations
- Prepare variation orders and additional work claims.
- Maintain records supporting commercial claims.
- Coordinate with clients, consultants, and subcontractors regarding changes in scope.
Reporting and Documentation
- Prepare weekly and monthly commercial reports.
- Maintain records of contracts, invoices, correspondences, and payment certificates.
- Assist in project close-out and final account settlement.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
- 3–10 years of experience in commercial management within construction projects.
- Knowledge of FIDIC contracts and quantity surveying principles.
- Proficiency in MS Excel, MS Office, AutoCAD, and ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, etc.).
- Strong analytical, negotiation, and communication skills.

Pay: ₹50,000.00 - ₹60,000.00 per month
