- Diploma in Mechanical Engineering (CADD Expert)
- Proficiency in CAD software such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Revit, SketchUp, or equivalent
- Experience: 2–3 years preferred; Freshers may also apply
Role Overview
The Lab Technician will support the Architecture Department by managing laboratory equipment, assisting students with technical tools, ensuring safe lab operations, and providing CAD‑related technical support. This role is central to maintaining a productive, well‑organized, and innovation‑friendly studio/lab environment.
Key Responsibilities
Laboratory & Equipment Management
- Maintain, calibrate, and troubleshoot lab equipment, tools, and machinery used in architectural model‑making and mechanical drafting.
- Ensure availability of materials, consumables, and tools required for studio and lab sessions.
- Maintain inventory records and coordinate procurement with the department.
Technical Support
- Assist students and faculty in using CAD software and mechanical drafting tools.
- Provide hands‑on support for model‑making, prototyping, and workshop activities.
- Guide students in safe and effective use of lab equipment.
Safety & Compliance
- Ensure adherence to safety protocols and maintain a hazard‑free lab environment.
- Conduct routine checks and report maintenance needs promptly.
- Support implementation of institutional safety standards and documentation.
Academic Support
- Assist faculty during practical sessions, demonstrations, and studio activities.
- Prepare lab setups, materials, and equipment before sessions.
- Support evaluation processes by organizing student submissions and maintaining lab records.
Administrative Responsibilities
- Maintain logs of equipment usage, repairs, and inventory.
- Assist in organizing workshops, exhibitions, and department events.
- Support documentation for audits, accreditation, and departmental reporting.
Skills & Competencies
- Strong knowledge of CAD tools and mechanical drafting
- Hands‑on skills in model‑making and workshop tools
- Good communication and student‑handling skills
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and maintain organized workflows
- Problem‑solving mindset with attention to detail.
