Key Responsibilities
The Configuration Engineer supports the implementation of operational technology systems such as ADMS and EMS by configuring system functionality based on defined requirements and design specifications. This role translates business and operational requirements into system configurations, supports testing activities, and assists with troubleshooting and go-live readiness. The Configuration Engineer operates within the software delivery lifecycle and works closely with client vendors, solution architects, integrators, and testing teams to ensure accurate and effective system behavior.
System Configuration & Build
Configure OT applications (e.g., AMI HES, ADMS, EMS, SCADA components) in accordance with approved design documents and requirements.
Experienced in AMI HES deployment and configuration, supporting smart meter integration, data communication, and remote operations within utility systems.
Develop and maintain configuration workbooks and parameter sets to support system setup and deployment
Ensure configuration aligns with business rules, operational workflows, and system constraints
Requirements Translation & Documentation
Analyze business and functional requirements and translate them into configuration specifications and workbooks
Support design workshops and working sessions to clarify requirements and configuration approach
Maintain traceability between requirements, configuration elements, and downstream testing artifacts
Support for Testing & Test Case Development
Assist in developing and refining test cases and scenarios based on configured system behavior
Support test execution by validating configuration outcomes and ensuring expected system behavior
Collaborate with testing teams to clarify expected results and assist with troubleshooting discrepancies
Troubleshooting & Defect Support During Testing
Investigate configuration-related issues identified during system, integration, and user acceptance testing
Support defect triage by analyzing system behavior, validating configuration settings, and identifying root causes
Coordinate with integrators, developers, and SMEs to resolve issues and verify fixes
Go-Live & Operational Readiness Support
Support system cutover, go-live preparation, and stabilization activities
Validate configuration completeness and readiness prior to production deployment
Assist with post-go-live support activities, including troubleshooting and system adjustments
Consulting Capability:
Ensures individual contributions are aligned with client needs and consistent with overall engagement objectives
Understands and consistently meets client expectations within scope of engagement role by responding promptly and professionally to their inquiries
Applies methods or recognized equivalent as appropriate to meet the specific needs of the client and engagement demands
Conducts situation analysis through client interviews and documents research to determine the business strengths and weaknesses to identify preliminary engagement priorities
May have matrix management responsibilities for resources on a project
Scope:
Billable Hours target established in annual goal setting process. Generally works on 1-4 concurrent projects at a given time.

Master’s degree in Information Technology or Engineering
5+ years of experience in system configuration, application support, or technical implementation roles or project implementation services as part of an OT vendor team with emphasis on system configuration
Experience with electric utility control systems operations or maintenance
Actively participated in at least two ADMS or other OT platform projects through the complete lifecycle including requirements development, design, systems integration & implementation and testing
Knowledge of industry standards (e.g., NERC CIP, IEC, IEEE) and utility regulatory environments
Experience supporting utility or critical infrastructure systems
Familiarity with configuration workbooks, parameter management, or system setup in enterprise applications
Exposure to testing processes (SIT, UAT) and defect management tools
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in electrical, instrumentation or computer engineering, Information Systems, or similar Technical domain
3 years of experience in system configuration, application support, or technical implementation roles or project implementation services as part of an OT vendor team with emphasis on system configuration
Exposure to software development or system delivery lifecycle (SDLC) including design, build, testing, and deployment
Functional understanding of OT systems such as ADMS, EMS, SCADA, or similar platforms
Ability to interpret business requirements and translate them into structured configuration outputs
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
Effective communication skills and ability to work in cross-functional project teams
Knowledge of Electric utilities operations functions and associated processes
Actively participated in at least one ADMS or other OT platform projects with technical domain experience
Hands-on experience in utility OT platforms such as ADMS, EMS, SCADA, DERMS, or related systems
Certifications
Certifications related to area of expertise, where applicable preferred.
