About us
SIMHAR is a 250-bed psychiatric hospital in Kerala providing comprehensive inpatient and outpatient mental health care across acute, rehabilitation, and speciality services. We are seeking a full-time Consultant Psychiatrist to lead clinical care, working within an established multidisciplinary team of psychologists, RMOs, and psychiatric nursing staff.
Role overview
The Consultant Psychiatrist holds primary clinical responsibility for the assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of patients across inpatient and outpatient settings, providing clinical leadership and supervision within the multidisciplinary team.
Key responsibilities
- Conduct psychiatric assessments, diagnosis, and formulation for inpatients and outpatients
- Develop and oversee evidence-based treatment plans, including pharmacological management
- Lead ward rounds and provide clinical supervision to RMOs and the wider team
- Manage acute and complex psychiatric presentations, including crisis intervention
- Collaborate with clinical psychologists, social workers, and nursing staff on integrated care
- Oversee ECT and other specialist interventions where applicable
- Maintain accurate clinical records and ensure adherence to the Mental Healthcare Act 2017 and hospital protocols
- Contribute to teaching, audit, and service development
Requirements
- MD (Psychiatry) / DNB (Psychiatry) / DPM from a recognised institution
- Valid registration with the State Medical Council / NMC — mandatory
- Demonstrated experience in clinical psychiatry; inpatient experience an advantage
- Strong leadership, diagnostic, and interpersonal skills
- Familiarity with the Mental Healthcare Act 2017 and relevant clinical governance

Pay: ₹64,271.83 - ₹203,774.31 per month
