Role Overview:
Tech Solar is seeking a dynamic and result-oriented Business Development Manager to drive growth in Solar Open Access (Group Captive / Third-Party / Captive models) and C&I rooftop projects.
The candidate must have strong knowledge of Maharashtra’s open-access framework, DISCOM processes, and regulatory structures, along with experience in acquiring and managing industrial clients with significant electricity consumption.
This is a revenue-driven role requiring strong commercial acumen, negotiation capability, and close coordination with internal engineering and operations teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Identify and close Solar Open Access opportunities (Group Captive / Third-Party / Captive models).
- Develop and manage a strong pipeline of C&I clients across Maharashtra industrial clusters.
- Target large manufacturing units, logistics parks, data centers, pharma, steel, auto, and other energy-intensive industries.
- Conduct electricity bill analysis and present financial feasibility (ROI, IRR, LCOE, payback).
- Structure and negotiate PPAs with clients.
- Stay updated on MERC regulations, banking provisions, CSS, wheeling and transmission charges.
- Coordinate with DISCOM, SLDC, CEIG, MEDA, and other authorities for client advisory and application processes.
- Present techno-commercial proposals and close deals from lead stage to LOI / PPA signing.
- Coordinate with design, finance, and operations teams for feasibility, costing, and project handover.
- Maintain CRM records, sales MIS, and pipeline reporting.
- Develop channel partners, consultants, and industrial association networks to generate new leads.
Qualifications:
- B.E./B.Tech (Electrical preferred) or MBA in Marketing / Energy Management.
- 3–6 years of experience in Solar EPC / Open Access Sales.
- Proven experience in closing Open Access deals in Maharashtra.
- Strong understanding of electricity tariff structures and regulatory frameworks.
- Experience in PPA structuring and commercial negotiations preferred.
Key Skills:
- Strong commercial and financial understanding.
- Excellent negotiation and deal-closing ability.
- Ability to interpret electricity bills and demand profiles.
- Basic understanding of financial modeling (IRR / Payback / Tariff comparison).
- Strong communication and presentation skills.
Performance Metrics (KPIs):
- MW capacity closed per quarter.
- Revenue target achievement.
- Lead-to-PPA conversion ratio.
- Client retention and repeat business.
