Job Overview
As the Assistant Manager for Logistics & Transport, you will spearhead the end-to-end movement of critical wind turbine components, including blades, nacelles, and tower sections. This role requires a technical expert capable of navigating the unique challenges of ODC transport, from route surveys to heavy lift coordination, to ensure timely delivery at wind farm construction sites.
Key Responsibilities
- ODC Movement & Planning: Execute the inland transportation of over-dimensional wind turbine components (Blades, Nacelles, Towers) and project-related accessories.
- Route Surveys & Feasibility: Conduct and verify detailed route surveys to identify obstacles, bridge capacities, and turning radii essential for ODC passage.
- Vendor & Contractor Management: Lead negotiations and finalise contracts with specialized 3PL providers, heavy-lift crane operators, and transport agencies.
- Heavy Lift Coordination: Manage the deployment of heavy-duty cranes and specialized trailers (multi-axle, extendable) for safe loading, unloading, and site erection.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all movements adhere to RTO/Ministry of Road Transport guidelines, including obtaining necessary permits for ODC and escort vehicle requirements.
- Site Logistics & Safety: Coordinate with site managers to oversee truck turnaround time (TAT) and promote a zero-harm safety culture during hazardous heavy-lift operations.
- Documentation & Reporting: Handle Bill of Lading (BL) draft verification, LC documentation, E-way bills, and maintain real-time MIS trackers for shipment status.
- Cost Optimization: Drive freight negotiations and process improvements to reduce detention costs and transportation damages.
Candidate Requirements
- Education: BE / B.Tech
- Experience: 5 to 10 years of progressive experience in logistics, specifically within Wind Energy or Infrastructure projects.
- Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in SAP MM/SD modules.
- Expertise in ODC transportation and heavy-lift equipment management.
- Strong knowledge of EXIM regulations and domestic transport laws.
- Soft Skills: Excellent negotiation, problem-solving, and cross-functional coordination abilities.
- Mobility: Willingness to travel frequently to remote project sites and vendor facilities.
