- Set up and operate CNC machines (milling, turning, drilling, or grinding) to manufacture components based on technical job cards.
- Load raw materials (metal bars, plates, or castings) and secure them properly using chucks, fixtures, or vices.
- Load pre-written programs (using G-codes/M-codes) and adjust machine offsets, tool speeds, and feed rates to optimize cutting performance.
- Quality Assurance & Precision Measurement:
- Read and accurately interpret technical engineering blueprints and 2D/3D mechanical drawings.
- Inspect finished parts using precision measuring tools such as Vernier calipers, micrometers, height gauges, and bore gauges to ensure tolerances are met.
- Identify and report any manufacturing defects or dimensional deviations to the floor supervisor immediately.
- Maintenance & Troubleshooting:
- Perform daily routine maintenance checks on machines (cleaning, checking coolant/lubrication levels, and monitoring tool wear).
- Identify tool wear or breakage and replace worn inserts and cutting tools as needed.
- Troubleshoot minor mechanical or operational errors during the run.
- Reporting & Safety:
- Maintain daily production logs, recording quantities produced, material usage, and machine downtime.
- Strictly adhere to shop-floor safety protocols, including wearing required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and maintaining a clean, hazard-free workstation.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Education: ITI Certification / Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Machinist trade, or equivalent technical vocational training.
