Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and technically skilled Patent Candidate to support intellectual property (IP) activities, including patent drafting, prior art searches, and patent prosecution. The candidate will work closely with inventors, attorneys, and R&D teams to protect innovations and ensure compliance with patent laws.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct prior art searches using patent and non-patent literature
- Analyze inventions for novelty, inventive step, and industrial applicability
- Draft patent specifications, claims, abstracts, and drawings (if applicable)
- Assist in filing patent applications (provisional and complete)
- Support patent prosecution, including responding to office actions
- Perform freedom-to-operate (FTO) and patentability analysis
- Maintain and update IP databases and documentation
- Collaborate with R&D teams to identify patentable innovations
- Monitor competitor patents and industry trends
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in:
- Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, Computer Science, etc.)
- Science (Physics, Chemistry, Biotechnology, etc.)
- Basic understanding of patent law and IP concepts
- Strong analytical and research skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in patent drafting or IP-related work
- Knowledge of patent databases such as:
- Google Patents
- Espacenet
- USPTO / IPO databases
- Registered or preparing for Patent Agent Exam (country-specific)
- Familiarity with international patent systems (PCT, USPTO, EPO, IPO India)
