Gigamon is seeking a Sr. Staff Hardware Engineer to join a small, dynamic global team focused on developing innovative networking and optical products. In this role, they will lead board-level hardware design, bring-up, and validation activities while contributing to system architecture and functional specifications. They will also partner closely with cross-functional teams, including mechanical engineering, product operations, product management, software, and manufacturing, to deliver reliable, high-performance products. This position plays a key role in supporting new product development, sustaining existing platforms, and driving successful execution with manufacturing and JDM/ODM/OEM partners.
Define high-level system design specifications and create hardware functional specifications.
Design, bring up, and validate board-level digital circuits for networking, embedded, and optical products.
Develop CPLD and glue logic using Verilog RTL.
Collaborate with mechanical engineering on mechanical and thermal solutions, as well as system assembly and integration.
Partner with product operations and product management teams to support product development and delivery.
Drive the qualification of new optical components and sustain existing optical solutions, including transceivers and passive splitters.
Lead the design of new hardware products and support sustaining engineering for existing products.
Select and qualify components to meet product performance, quality, and reliability requirements.
Coordinate prototype builds and validation activities with contract manufacturers and JDM/ODM/OEM partners.
Support critical customer escalations related to hardware performance and product issues.
Manage environmental and compliance testing, certifications, and reports, and assist customers with compliance-related requests.
Earned a BS in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or an equivalent field.
Built 10+ years of design experience in networking products, embedded systems, or optical products.
Developed expertise in high-speed board design, including signal integrity and power integrity considerations.
Gained experience designing low-noise, high-efficiency onboard power regulators.
Demonstrated hands-on experience with Verilog RTL development.
Applied strong board-level debug and validation skills in complex hardware environments.
Used lab test equipment such as oscilloscopes and logic analyzers for design validation and troubleshooting.
Written product specifications, test plans, and test procedures to support development and qualification.
Worked effectively with cross-functional teams, including software, manufacturing, and product stakeholders.
A strong problem solver who can identify issues, gather data, and draw sound conclusions.
