Role Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented Design Engineer with a strong focus on Dimension Control and Design Testing. In this role, you will be responsible for creating technical blueprints for component refurbishing, ensuring precision dimensions for high-performance coatings (Plasma, HVOF, etc.), and conducting rigorous testing to meet international quality standards for industries like Aerospace, Oil & Gas, and Power.
Key Responsibilities1. Design & Drafting
- Create detailed 2D and 3D CAD models/drawings of industrial components (pumps, valves, turbine blades, etc.) prior to and after coating applications.
- Design specialized tooling, fixtures, and jigs required for the plasma spray process.
- Establish "Pre-machining" and "Post-machining" dimensional specifications to ensure coating thickness and final tolerance compliance.
2. Dimension & Precision Control
- Perform high-precision dimensional inspections using micrometers, verniers, CMM, or laser scanners.
- Calculate and define tolerance stack-ups for critical rotating components.
- Ensure all components align with the technical drawings provided by clients (HAL, DRDO, etc.).
3. Design Testing & Validation
- Develop and execute test protocols for coating bond strength, surface roughness, and thickness.
- Conduct Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) on new design iterations to optimize the spray process.
- Collaborate with the production team to troubleshoot design-related issues during the thermal spray application.
4. Documentation & Compliance
- Maintain rigorous documentation in line with ISO 9001:2015 standards.
- Prepare detailed Quality Assurance (QA) reports and "As-Built" drawings for final client submission.
Required Qualifications & Skills
- Education: B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical or Production Engineering.
- Experience: 2–5 years of experience in a manufacturing or coating job shop (Thermal Spray industry experience is a major plus).
- Software: Proficiency in SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or Catia.
- Technical Knowledge:
- Deep understanding of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing).
- Knowledge of material properties (Ceramics, Carbides, and Super-alloys).
- Familiarity with thermal spray processes (Plasma, HVOF, Wire Arc).
Preferred Attributes
- Resident of Navi Mumbai (Panvel, Kharghar, Taloja) or nearby areas.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced MIDC industrial environment.
- Strong analytical mindset with a "Do It Right the First Time" attitude.
