JOB OVERVIEW:
The Parts Picker / Workshop Floor Support is a hands-on operational role that ensures seamless parts flow between the parts store and the workshop floor. This individual is the critical link between the Parts Manager and the Technicians — ensuring the right part reaches the right technician at the right time, reducing vehicle turnaround time, and maintaining physical parts movement accuracy. Candidates with prior experience in a commercial vehicle dealership parts store or workshop floor support role will be given strong preference.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Pick spare parts from the bin/store as per technician requisition slips or DMS parts request — ensure correct part number, quantity, and variant before issuing
- Verify every part issue against a signed DMS job card or parts requisition slip — no parts issued without documentation
- Maintain physical orderliness of the parts store — ensure bins are labelled, parts are in correct locations, and store is clean and navigable
- Assist the Parts Manager in receiving incoming parts shipments — help with physical unloading, sorting, and bin placement
- Track parts movement log — maintain a manual or system-based record of all parts issued per shift
- Return unused or wrong parts back to the store immediately — update Parts Manager for DMS correction
- Support the Parts Manager during monthly physical stock audit — count, verify, and record physical stock against DMS
- Assist in segregating warranty return parts — tag correctly with vehicle number and job card and hand over to Parts Manager
- Coordinate with technicians for urgent parts requirements — communicate ETAs and escalate non-availability to Parts Manager immediately
- Keep the workshop floor support area clean — dispose of used oil, filters, and packaging as per workshop waste management protocol.
REQUIRED SKILLS:
- Basic knowledge of heavy commercial vehicle spare parts — ability to identify common parts by appearance and part number
- Physical stamina — involves regular movement of parts across store and workshop floor
- Attention to detail — wrong part issued to wrong job card creates costly errors
- Basic reading ability in Hindi/English for part numbers, bin labels, and job cards
- Reliable and punctual — workshop output depends on parts availability
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
- 1–3 years of experience in a commercial vehicle dealership parts store or workshop support role
- Familiarity with spare parts of BharatBenz, Tata Motors, Ashok Leyland, or Eicher trucks
- Basic DMS or computer knowledge is an added advantage
EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATION:
- ITI Certificate in any trade preferred
- Minimum 10th Pass
SOFTWARE & SYSTEM KNOWLEDGE:
- Basic DMS understanding — Training will be provided
- Basic MS Excel — for movement records if required
BEHAVIORAL EXPECTATIONS:
- Reliable, honest, and diligent — parts custody is a trust-based responsibility
- Organized — maintains a clean and navigable store at all times
- Quick and responsive — workshop productivity depends on fast parts delivery
