Key Responsibilities
1. Read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, standards, and customer requirements (dimensional, material, surface finish, heat treatment, coating, inspection).
2. Develop manufacturing processes and detailed process plans/sequences for components based on engineering drawings.
3. Prepare and interpret stage drawings for each manufacturing operation, correctly defining intermediate dimensions, tolerances, datums, references, and machining allowances.
4. Apply strong GD&T knowledge across drawing interpretation, process planning, stage drawing preparation, and inspection method selection.
5. Lead preparation and review of Control Plans and PFMEA with the Cross-Functional Team (Production, Quality, CNC Programming, Tooling), identifying process risks, special characteristics, and reaction plans.
6. Manage the Engineering Change Note (ECN) process — reviewing the impact of drawing revisions on processes, tooling, programs, and documentation, and ensuring proper implementation.
7. Maintain controlled engineering documentation, ensuring the latest approved revisions are available to manufacturing.
8. Support new product introduction, first-off production, process proving, root-cause analysis, and continuous process/cost/quality improvement.
9. Requires 3-4 years' experience in aerospace, precision engineering, or high-accuracy manufacturing, with exposure to complex, tight-tolerance machined components, customer-specific drawing standards, and CAD software for stage drawings.
Preferred: exposure to APQP, FAI, PPAP, and process validation; knowledge of CNC machining and precision manufacturing processes.
