Reporting To: Operations Head / Terminal Manager
Position Summary
The Empty Yard Head will be responsible for managing the overall operations of the empty container yard, ensuring smooth container movement, inventory control, yard planning, customer coordination, equipment utilization, safety compliance, and manpower management. The role requires strong operational knowledge of container logistics, shipping line coordination, and yard management systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage day-to-day empty container yard operations efficiently.
- Monitor container inventory, stacking, dispatch, and movement activities.
- Coordinate with shipping lines, transporters, CHA agents, and internal operations teams.
- Ensure timely gate-in and gate-out operations for empty containers.
- Plan yard space utilization to maximize operational efficiency.
- Supervise yard staff, operators, supervisors, and contractors.
- Ensure compliance with safety standards, SOPs, and statutory regulations.
- Maintain accurate yard records, MIS reports, and inventory reconciliation.
- Monitor equipment utilization such as forklifts, reach stackers, trailers, etc.
- Resolve operational issues related to container damages, delays, or shortages.
- Conduct regular audits of yard stock and operational processes.
- Coordinate with maintenance teams for equipment availability and repairs.
- Ensure customer service standards and operational turnaround timelines are maintained.
- Drive process improvements and cost optimization initiatives.
Required Skills & Competencies
- Strong knowledge of container yard operations and logistics.
- Understanding of shipping line procedures and container tracking.
- Experience in yard planning and container inventory management.
- Good leadership and team handling skills.
- Strong coordination and communication abilities.
- Knowledge of ERP / Yard Management Systems / Excel reporting.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced operational environment.
- Problem-solving and decision-making capability.
Qualification
- Graduate in Logistics, Supply Chain, Commerce, or related field.
- Additional certification in logistics/shipping will be an advantage.
Experience
- 7–12 years of experience in:
- Container Freight Station (CFS)
- Inland Container Depot (ICD)
- Shipping & Logistics
- Empty Container Yard Operations
- Minimum 3–5 years in a supervisory or managerial role.

Pay: ₹1,000,000.00 - ₹1,200,000.00 per year
