Duties and Responsibilities
- Develop mechanical engineering designs, drawings, specifications, calculations, and technical documentation throughout all phases of project execution.
- Design and analyze mechanical systems, including HVAC, piping, hydronic, and related equipment systems, in accordance with applicable codes, standards, and project requirements.
- Coordinate with multidisciplinary engineering teams to ensure integrated and constructible design solutions.
- Review and validate engineering deliverables for technical accuracy, quality, and compliance with project scope.
- Prepare and review engineering calculations, reports, and technical studies.
- Utilize CAD and 3D modeling software to develop and review mechanical drawings and models.
- Lead construction administration activities, including review of shop drawings, submittals, RFIs, and field observations.
- Provide technical support during project execution and construction phases.
- Assist Project Managers with project planning, scope management, cost monitoring, and technical risk assessment.
- Interface with clients, contractors, vendors, and other stakeholders to resolve technical issues and ensure project objectives are achieved.
- Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance as required.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives, engineering standards development, and best practices implementation.
Required Skills and Abilities
- Strong knowledge of mechanical engineering principles, design practices, and industry standards.
- Proficiency in mechanical system design, including HVAC, piping, hydronic, and equipment systems.
- Experience with CAD and 3D modeling software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, Plant 3D, or similar platforms).
- Ability to perform engineering calculations, analyses, and technical evaluations.
- Working knowledge of applicable national and international codes, standards, and regulations.
- Strong problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities while meeting deadlines.
- Strong organizational and project coordination skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from an accredited institution.
- Minimum of 8-10 years of relevant mechanical engineering experience in design, engineering consulting, industrial, commercial, or construction-related projects.
- Demonstrated experience in mechanical system design, engineering calculations, and project coordination.
- Experience supporting construction administration activities, including shop drawing reviews, RFI responses, and site visits.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license or progress toward professional registration is preferred, where applicable.
- Experience working in multidisciplinary project environments is highly desirable.
