Job Summary
The Staff Nurse is responsible for delivering high-quality nursing care to patients undergoing urological consultations, procedures, surgeries, and post-operative treatment. The role involves patient assessment, medication administration, monitoring patient progress, infection control, documentation, and coordination with doctors and healthcare teams.
Key Responsibilities
Patient Care
- Assess, monitor, and record patients' vital signs and clinical conditions.
- Provide pre-operative and post-operative nursing care.
- Administer medications, IV fluids, injections, and treatments as prescribed.
- Assist consultants and surgeons during examinations and procedures.
- Ensure patient comfort, safety, and dignity at all times.
- Educate patients and their families regarding treatment plans, medications, and discharge instructions.
Clinical Duties
- Prepare patients for surgeries, investigations, and procedures.
- Monitor patients for complications and report abnormalities promptly.
- Assist in catheter care, wound dressing, and urological procedures.
- Maintain accurate nursing records and patient documentation.
- Handle emergency situations efficiently and provide basic life support when required.
Infection Control & Safety
- Follow hospital infection control protocols.
- Maintain cleanliness and sterility of patient care areas and equipment.
- Ensure proper biomedical waste segregation and disposal.
- Adhere to NABH and hospital quality standards (if applicable).
Coordination & Communication
- Coordinate with doctors, technicians, and support staff for seamless patient care.
- Participate in nursing handovers and departmental meetings.
- Maintain professional communication with patients and relatives.
Administrative Responsibilities
- Maintain stock of medicines, consumables, and nursing supplies.
- Ensure proper documentation of nursing activities.
- Assist in patient admission, transfer, and discharge processes.
Qualifications
- GNM / B.Sc. Nursing from a recognized institution.
- Valid Nursing Council Registration.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification preferred.
Experience
- Freshers may apply.
- 1–3 years of hospital experience preferred.
- Experience in OT, ICU, surgical wards, or urology departments will be an advantage.
Required Skills
- Strong clinical and patient care skills.
- Knowledge of infection control and nursing protocols.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work in shifts, including nights and weekends.
