Labour Room Staff Nurse

Job Summary
We are looking for a dedicated and compassionate Labour Room Staff Nurse to provide high-quality nursing care to mothers during labor, delivery, and the immediate postnatal period. The ideal candidate should be skilled in monitoring maternal and fetal conditions, assisting obstetricians during deliveries, and ensuring the safety and comfort of both mother and newborn.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to antenatal, intrapartum, and postnatal patients.
- Monitor maternal and fetal vital signs throughout labor.
- Prepare and maintain the labour room, delivery equipment, and sterile instruments.
- Assist obstetricians and gynecologists during normal and assisted deliveries.
- Provide immediate newborn care and assist with neonatal resuscitation when required.
- Administer medications, IV fluids, and injections as prescribed.
- Maintain accurate nursing records and patient documentation.
- Identify and promptly report maternal or fetal complications to the doctor.
- Educate mothers and families on breastfeeding, newborn care, and postnatal recovery.
- Follow infection prevention and control protocols at all times.
- Ensure proper handling and disposal of biomedical waste.
- Coordinate effectively with doctors, pediatricians, anesthetists, and other healthcare professionals.
- Participate in emergency obstetric procedures and code situations.
- Maintain patient privacy, dignity, and confidentiality.
Qualifications
- B.Sc. Nursing or GNM Nursing.
- Valid Nursing Council Registration.
- Minimum 2+ years of experience as a Labour Room Staff Nurse in a hospital.
- Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS); NRP/ACLS certification is an added advantage.
