Job Summary
The Lead – MEP Design is responsible for leading the design, coordination, review, and execution support of Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing (MEP), Fire Fighting, HVAC, and ELV systems for commercial interior fit-out projects. The role ensures that all MEP designs are technically sound, code-compliant, cost-effective, and aligned with project requirements. The incumbent will coordinate with clients, consultants, architects, project teams, and vendors to deliver high-quality MEP design solutions while supporting project execution and achieving business objectives.
Key Responsibilities
MEP Design Management
- Lead the development, review, and approval of MEP designs for commercial interior fit-out projects.
- Manage design activities related to HVAC, Electrical, Plumbing, Fire Fighting, ELV, BMS, and associated building services.
- Ensure designs comply with local regulations, statutory requirements, client standards, and industry best practices.
- Review design calculations, load calculations, equipment sizing, and system layouts.
Design Coordination
- Coordinate with architects, interior designers, structural consultants, and project teams to integrate MEP systems within project requirements.
- Conduct design review meetings and resolve technical coordination issues.
- Ensure clash-free and coordinated designs before project execution.
- Work closely with BIM and CAD teams for preparation and review of coordinated drawings.
Technical Review & Engineering
- Review schematic designs, detailed designs, shop drawings, and as-built drawings.
- Provide technical guidance and engineering solutions during project execution.
- Evaluate design changes, variations, and value engineering proposals.
- Ensure optimal system performance, maintainability, and energy efficiency.
Project Support
- Support tendering, procurement, QS, and execution teams with technical inputs.
- Review technical submittals, material approvals, and vendor proposals.
- Participate in client meetings, technical presentations, and project reviews.
- Assist site teams in resolving technical and installation-related issues.
Value Engineering & Cost Optimization
- Identify opportunities for value engineering without compromising quality and functionality.
- Recommend cost-effective design alternatives and innovative engineering solutions.
- Collaborate with procurement and QS teams to optimize project costs.
Compliance & Quality Assurance
- Ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, and authority requirements.
- Establish and maintain MEP design quality standards.
- Conduct periodic design audits and technical reviews.
- Ensure proper documentation and design control procedures.
Team Leadership
- Lead and mentor MEP design engineers, BIM coordinators, and drafting teams.
- Allocate design resources and monitor project deliverables.
- Conduct performance reviews and support capability development within the team.
- Promote engineering excellence and continuous improvement initiatives.
Reporting & Documentation
- Monitor design schedules and ensure timely submission of design deliverables.
- Prepare project status reports, design progress reports, and management presentations.
- Maintain design records, calculations, approvals, and project documentation.
Qualifications & Experience
Education
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering.
- Master's Degree in Building Services, MEP Engineering, or Project Management will be an added advantage.
Experience
- 8–12 years of experience in MEP Design and Engineering.
- Mandatory experience in Commercial Interior Fit-Out Projects.
- Strong exposure to corporate offices, commercial buildings, retail, hospitality, and workplace interiors.
- Experience in managing multidisciplinary MEP design teams.
- Knowledge of authority approvals and statutory compliance requirements.
Knowledge, Skills & Competencies
Technical Skills
- Strong expertise in HVAC, Electrical, Plumbing, Fire Fighting, ELV, and Building Services Design.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit MEP, Navisworks, BIM platforms, and MS Office.
- Knowledge of NBC, IS Codes, NFPA, ASHRAE, IEC, and other applicable standards.
- Strong understanding of load calculations, equipment selection, and system design.
- Experience in design coordination and clash resolution.
- Familiarity with sustainable and energy-efficient building systems.

Pay: ₹100,000.00 - ₹150,000.00 per month
