Job description:
Asoka World School is looking for a PGT Economics Teacher for our senior secondary classes. You will own the subject at our Elamakkara campus, the teaching, the board results and the project work, and shape how students understand the economy they live in.
Responsibilities
- Teach Economics to Classes XI and XII to the CBSE syllabus: Statistics for Economics, Microeconomics, Macroeconomics and Indian Economic Development.
- Connect the syllabus to the world outside it, the Union Budget, RBI decisions, prices in the news, so concepts land as sense, not memorisation.
- Prepare students thoroughly for board examinations: structured revision, sample papers, answer-writing practice marked to the CBSE scheme.
- Guide the Class XI and XII Economics project work and conduct internal assessments and vivas to CBSE requirements.
- Assess and track each student's progress, keep records per the school's assessment calendar, and give individual attention where a student is struggling or coasting.
- Take part in parent-teacher meetings and keep parents informed of progress in plain, constructive terms.
- Run at least one subject activity in the year, an economics or commerce club, a market game, a quiz team, that gives the subject life beyond the classroom.
- Complete the school's annual CPD requirement (CBSE-mandated training plus in-house sessions).
Requirements
- Master's degree in Economics with B.Ed.
- At least 2 years of CBSE school teaching experience; senior secondary (XI–XII) experience preferred.
- Strong spoken and written English as the medium of instruction; Malayalam helps in parent conversations.
- Able to motivate a mixed classroom: board-focused students, entrance-exam aspirants and the genuinely curious in the same room.
- Comfortable with Google Workspace and smart classroom tools.
