Job Summary :
The Science Lab Incharge is responsible for overseeing the efficient and safe operation of the school/organization’s science laboratory, ensuring all experiments and practical classes run smoothly, equipment is maintained, and safety standards are adhered to at all times. This role supports teaching staff and students in laboratory-related activities and ensures compliance with academic and safety guidelines.
Key Responsibilities :
1. Manage daily operations of the science laboratory and prepare materials for experiments and practical sessions.
2. Maintain laboratory inventory, equipment calibration, supplies requisition, and overall cleanliness.
3. Ensure all science experiments and activities comply with safety protocols and standard procedures.
4. Assist teachers in conducting student laboratory sessions and demonstrate correct use of lab equipment.
5. Train students (and staff if needed) on proper laboratory safety and emergency procedures.
6. Develop, update, and enforce laboratory SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures) and safety guidelines.
7. Monitor equipment maintenance and coordinate repairs or replacements when necessary.
8. Organize chemical storage, labeling, and documentation of hazardous substances as per applicable guidelines.
9. Maintain accurate records of lab activities, experiments, and safety checks.
Required Qualifications :
1. Bachelor’s degree in Science (B.Sc) or a relevant subject (preferably with Biology, Physics, and Chemistry).
2. Previous experience working in a science laboratory environment (school lab experience preferred).
3. Excellent organizational and communication skills.
4. Knowledge of laboratory safety rules, equipment handling, and inventory management.
Preferred Skills :
1. Experience with record keeping and lab documentation.
2. Ability to train students on safety and practical lab skills.
3. Familiarity with curriculum requirements and academic schedule coordination.
