Job Summary
We are looking for a highly motivated and technically skilled OSS Automation Engineer to support automation systems, production equipment, and manufacturing operations at the Foxconn facility in Sriperumbudur, Chennai. The candidate will be responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and optimizing industrial automation systems to ensure maximum equipment uptime, production efficiency, and compliance with quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, maintain, and troubleshoot industrial automation systems and manufacturing equipment.
- Support production lines by ensuring smooth operation of automated machinery and control systems.
- Diagnose and resolve electrical, mechanical, PLC, HMI, and automation-related issues.
- Monitor equipment performance and implement corrective and preventive maintenance activities.
- Perform root cause analysis (RCA) for machine breakdowns and process failures.
- Assist in commissioning, testing, and validation of new automation equipment.
- Coordinate with production, maintenance, and engineering teams to improve operational efficiency.
- Develop and update technical documentation, maintenance records, and SOPs.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on productivity, quality, and safety.
- Ensure compliance with EHS (Environment, Health & Safety) standards and company policies.
- Participate in equipment upgrades, modifications, and process optimization projects.
- Train operators and technicians on automation systems and best practices.
Required Qualifications
- Diploma / Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Mechatronics, Instrumentation, Automation Engineering, or a related field.
- 2–5 years of experience in industrial automation, manufacturing, or electronics production environments.
- Freshers with strong automation knowledge may also apply.
Technical Skills
- Knowledge of PLC programming and troubleshooting (Siemens, Mitsubishi, Allen-Bradley, Omron, etc.).
- Experience with HMI and SCADA systems.
- Understanding of sensors, actuators, servo motors, VFDs, and industrial communication protocols.
- Ability to read electrical drawings, wiring diagrams, and control schematics.
- Familiarity with robotic systems and automated assembly lines is preferred.
- Knowledge of preventive and predictive maintenance practices.
- Basic understanding of Industry 4.0 and smart manufacturing concepts.
- Proficiency in MS Office and technical reporting.
Preferred Skills
- Experience in Electronics Manufacturing Services (EMS) industry.
- Knowledge of SMT, Assembly, Testing, and Production Automation processes.
- Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills.
- Good communication and teamwork abilities.
- Ability to work in shifts and under production deadlines.
