A Civil Planning Engineer develops, monitors, and updates project schedules, budgets, and resource allocation to ensure construction projects are completed on time and within scope. Key responsibilities include creating baseline schedules using software like Primavera P6 or MS Project, analyzing Bills of Quantity (BOQ) for work breakdown structures (WBS), conducting progress tracking, and preparing daily/monthly reports (S-curves)
- Project Scheduling: Create comprehensive project schedules (baseline, revised, and recovery) including critical path analysis to define timelines, milestones, and deliverables.
- Progress Monitoring & Reporting: Track site progress, comparing actual progress against the baseline to produce daily, weekly, and monthly reports (including S-curves and look-ahead plans).
- Resource Planning & Cost Control: Allocate resources, manpower, and machinery effectively to meet project milestones, assisting in cost estimation and cash flow forecasting.
- Documentation & Coordination: Maintain detailed records (minutes of meetings), manage project documentation, and coordinate with clients, contractors, and internal stakeholders to manage delays and project changes.
- Risk Mitigation: Analyze potential project delays or bottlenecks and suggest alternative approaches to keep the project on track.
- Software Proficiency: Expert knowledge of Primavera P6, MS Project, and Excel.
- Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of civil construction methods, BOQ interpretation, and project management principles.
- Analytical Skills: Excellent ability to analyze complex data to identify trends and risks.
- Communication: Effective communication to liaise with on-site staff and stakeholders
