About the Role
iQuants Engineering is looking for an Embedded Software Design Engineer to work at our client location in Pune, supporting the development of advanced EV powertrain and motor control systems.
The ideal candidate should have hands-on experience in embedded software development, motor control algorithms, microcontrollers, and automotive communication protocols.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and validate embedded software for EV motor controllers such as BLDC, PMSM, SRM and Axial Flux motors.
- Develop and integrate motor control algorithms with BMS, VCU and other vehicle systems.
- Work on motor control algorithms including FOC, PID and DTC.
- Conduct software testing, debugging, optimization and performance improvements.
- Support improvements in power, cost, weight and efficiency of motor control systems.
- Work with communication protocols such as CAN, SPI and UART.
- Perform system-level integration and troubleshooting.
- Ensure compliance with relevant automotive standards, including ISO 26262.
- Maintain technical documentation and software development records.
Required Skills & Experience
- Bachelor's/Master's degree in Electronics, E&TC, Electrical Engineering or a related field.
- 2–4 years of hands-on experience in Embedded Controller Design/Development.
- Strong knowledge of Embedded C/C++.
- Experience with ARM/DSP microcontrollers.
- Good understanding of EV motor control algorithms such as FOC, PID and DTC.
- Experience with CAN, SPI and UART communication protocols.
- Hands-on experience in software testing, debugging and system integration.
- Knowledge of RTOS.
- Familiarity with MATLAB/Simulink.
- Knowledge of Git and automotive software development practices.
- Exposure to functional safety / ISO 26262 will be an advantage.
Preferred Candidate Profile
- Candidates with EV / Electric Motor Controller / Powertrain experience are preferred.
- Strong hands-on embedded software development experience.
- Good analytical and debugging skills.
- Immediate joiners / candidates with short notice periods are preferred.
