Position Summary
The Legal Manager will be responsible for managing the Company's legal affairs, regulatory compliance, litigation, recovery-related legal actions, contract management, and legal risk mitigation. The role requires extensive knowledge of financial services regulations, litigation management, debt recovery laws, and corporate legal matters. The Legal Manager will act as the Company's legal representative for initiating and pursuing legal proceedings against defaulters, fraudulent entities, and other parties as required.
Key Responsibilities
Legal Advisory
- Provide legal advice and support to management and business teams on legal and regulatory matters.
- Ensure that business operations comply with applicable laws, regulations, and internal policies.
- Advise on corporate governance matters, board resolutions, and legal documentation.
- Support strategic business initiatives through legal due diligence and risk assessment.
Contract Management
- Draft, review, negotiate, and vet legal documents including:
- Loan Agreements
- Vendor Agreements
- Service Agreements
- NDAs
- Employment Contracts
- Partnership Agreements
- Customer Agreements
- Recovery and Settlement Agreements
- Ensure contractual risks are identified and mitigated.
- Maintain and manage legal documentation and contract repositories.
- Templatisation of Legal Documents
- Maintatance of Legal Documents & Records safely
Regulatory Compliance
- Ensure compliance with RBI regulations, Companies Act, Consumer Protection laws, FEMA, AML/KYC requirements, and other applicable regulations.
- Monitor legal and regulatory developments affecting the Company's operations.
- Coordinate with regulators, auditors, and consultants on legal and compliance matters.
- Develop and implement legal compliance frameworks and internal policies.
Litigation, Complaints & Legal Proceedings
- Draft, file, and pursue legal complaints, civil suits, criminal complaints, arbitration matters, recovery proceedings, consumer complaints, and other legal actions on behalf of the Company.
- Act as the Company's authorized representative for initiating legal proceedings before courts, tribunals, quasi-judicial authorities, police authorities, and regulatory bodies.
- Prepare and review legal notices, replies, affidavits, plaints, petitions, complaints, written statements, applications, and other legal documents.
- Coordinate with external advocates, law firms, and legal consultants for effective conduct of litigation and dispute resolution.
- Maintain records of all legal cases and periodically report case status to management.
- Ensure timely responses to legal notices, summons, and regulatory communications.
- Oversee arbitration, mediation, and settlement negotiations to protect the Company's interests.
Recovery & Asset Enforcement
- Handle legal aspects of debt recovery and delinquent loan accounts.
- Initiate recovery actions and legal proceedings against defaulting borrowers and guarantors.
- Support enforcement actions under DRT, Negotiable Instruments Act, and other relevant laws.
- Handle cheque bounce matters and recovery-related litigation.
- Coordinate with collections and recovery teams for legal enforcement actions.
- Assist in asset repossession and recovery proceedings where permitted under law.
Fraud Investigation & Criminal Actions
- Initiate and monitor criminal complaints, FIRs, and legal proceedings against fraudulent borrowers, vendors, employees, or third parties.
- Work with law enforcement agencies and investigators on fraud-related matters.
- Manage legal actions involving forgery, misrepresentation, cyber fraud, financial fraud, and other criminal offences affecting the Company.
Risk Management
- Identify legal and regulatory risks and recommend mitigation measures.
- Conduct legal risk assessments for new products, partnerships, and business initiatives.
- Protect the Company's interests through preventive legal strategies and controls.
Policy Development & Training
- Draft and update legal policies, SOPs, compliance manuals, and standard legal templates.
- Conduct legal awareness and compliance training programs for employees.
- Promote a strong culture of compliance and ethical business conduct.
Key Requirements
Qualifications
- LL.B. degree from a recognized university.
Experience
- Relevant legal experience of 4+ years.
- Prior experience in NBFC, Banking, Financial Services, FinTech, or Lending organizations preferred.
- Strong experience in litigation, recovery proceedings, contract management, and regulatory compliance.

Salary range : Rs.4,00,000/- to Rs.6,00,000/-
