About the Role
We are looking for an analytical and detail-oriented Quantity Surveyor specializing in Structural Steel to join our team in India. In this role, you will be the commercial backbone of our steel fabrication and construction projects, ensuring precise material takeoff, tracking steel consumption on site, and auditing invoices to maintain strict cost control.
Key Responsibilities
- Quantity Takeoffs: Perform meticulous quantity takeoffs and material take-offs directly from structural steel drawings, shop drawings, and framing plans.
- Material Billing: Prepare comprehensive material bills, estimation sheets, and procurement schedules for structural steel components.
- Site Verification: Monitor and verify actual steel tonnage usage, wastage, and material reconciliation on site against approved drawings.
- Invoice Auditing: Review, verify, and audit contractor and vendor fabrication invoices, running account bills (RA bills), and final accounts.
- Cost Monitoring: Assist the commercial team in tracking steel package costs, evaluating variation orders, and keeping projects within budget.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Education: Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (Structural or Construction Management background is a plus).
- Experience: 4 to 8 years of hands-on quantity surveying experience specifically within the structural steel fabrication, heavy engineering, or steel construction sector.
- Technical Know-How:
- Strong proficiency in reading structural steel detail drawings, connection designs, and fabrication notes.
- Familiarity with steel sections, weights, tonnage calculations, and market pricing.
- Software Skills: Advanced proficiency in MS Excel and measurement/estimating tools.
- Competencies: Strong numerical accuracy, sharp eye for detail, and strong negotiation and vendor management skills.
