Job Title- Freight Broker
Job Summary
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Freight Broker with 6 months to 2 years of experience in freight brokerage. The ideal candidate will be responsible for coordinating freight transportation, negotiating competitive rates with carriers, building strong customer relationships, and ensuring timely and cost-effective shipment execution. Strong communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills are essential for success in this role.
Key Responsibilities -
- Source and secure reliable carriers for customer freight.
- Negotiate freight rates with carriers and customers to maximize profitability.
- Coordinate and monitor shipments from pickup through delivery.
- Develop and maintain relationships with shippers, carriers, and logistics partners.
- Track shipments proactively and provide timely updates to customers.
- Resolve shipment issues, delays, and service disruptions efficiently.
- Ensure all freight documentation is accurate and complete.
- Maintain compliance with transportation regulations and company policies.
- Manage carrier performance and ensure quality service standards.
- Enter and update shipment information in the Transportation Management System (TMS).
- Work closely with internal teams to meet customer expectations and business goals.
- Meet daily, weekly, and monthly sales and operational performance targets.
Required Qualifications -
- 6 months to 2 years of experience in freight brokerage, logistics, transportation, or a related field.
- Bachelor's degree preferred; equivalent experience will also be considered.
- Knowledge of truckload (FTL), less-than-truckload (LTL), and freight operations.
- Understanding of carrier sourcing, rate negotiation, and shipment management.
- Experience using Transportation Management Systems (TMS) and Microsoft Office applications.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong negotiation and customer service abilities.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, target-driven environment.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple shipments and priorities simultaneously.
Preferred Skills -
- Experience working with North American freight markets.
- Familiarity with load boards such as DAT and Truckstop.
- Knowledge of freight pricing strategies and market trends.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to build long-term relationships with customers and carriers.
