Role Summary:
We are looking for a Senior Bluetooth/Wi Fi Developer to design, integrate, customize, validate, and maintain the Bluetooth and Wi Fi software stack for an Automotive Android (AOSP) based In Vehicle Infotainment (IVI) Head Unit. The role requires strong system-level Android connectivity expertise, including driver/HAL integration with a 3rd party chipset vendor, and ensuring automotive grade performance, stability, interoperability, and compliance readiness.
Key Responsibilities:
1. AOSP Connectivity Stack Development & Integration
2. Lead bring up and integration of Bluetooth/Wi Fi stack components on Automotive Android OS, aligning with chipset firmware/driver deliverables from the hardware vendor.
3. Integrate and customize Android connectivity interfaces including Vendor HAL, Supplicant HAL, and Hostapd HAL, and support transitions across interface mechanisms (AIDL/HIDL) as applicable to the Android baseline.
4. Work across Android build and tooling workflows (source sync, build, debugging) and use Android developer utilities for diagnostics and triage.
5. Feature Enablement & Use Case Implementation:
6. Enable core Bluetooth/Wi Fi functions and implement IVI specific connectivity features/use cases across the program lifecycle.
7. Support multi display / multi user or high integration scenarios where connectivity must work reliably across concurrent user contexts
8. Design and Develop Bluetooth and Wi-Fi based Audio/Video Streaming solutions.
9. Collaborate with platform/system teams to resolve end to end integration issues between connectivity subsystem and the overall IVI platform.
10. Quality, Validation & Certification Readiness
11. Drive validation, debugging, and optimization for range/throughput performance, stability, and coexistence behavior in automotive environments.
12. Ensure readiness for Android platform compatibility expectations including support for annual Android upgrades and CTS/CDD compliance where applicable.
13. Support certification readiness activities aligned to Bluetooth SIG and Wi Fi Alliance (WFA) programs (working with test teams/labs and providing engineering support for defects found during qualification).
14. Security, OTA, and Lifecycle Maintenance
15. Implement and maintain secure connectivity behaviors (e.g., secure pairing, encryption expectations) and support OTA update strategies, including firmware/stack patching and lifecycle updates.
16. Own defect triage and long term maintenance, including root cause analysis for complex system issues spanning framework HAL driver firmware boundaries.
Professional & Technical Skills:
1. Strong hands on experience in Android platform/AOSP development with system-level debugging across framework/services and native layers.
2. Strong Bluetooth fundamentals: architecture, profiles, common use cases, and Android Bluetooth stack understanding.
3. Strong Wi Fi fundamentals: modes/standards (STA/AP, Wi Fi Aware/RTT concepts) and Android Wi Fi architecture understanding.
4. Experience integrating Wi Fi HAL surfaces (Vendor/Supplicant/Hostapd) and familiarity with AIDL/HIDL patterns in Android.
5. Experience with A2DP, ARCVP, HFP/HSP, BLE GATT/GAP.
6. Understanding of RTP/RTSP, TCP/UDP, Multicast/Unicast Streaming, DLNA/Miracast/AirPlay/Chromecast concepts.
7. Proficiency in C/C++ and Java (Kotlin beneficial for some Android system components).
8. Strong debugging skills using Android/system tools (logs, platform diagnostics) and ability to work in low power / constrained environments.
9. Work closely with chipset vendor, system integrator, and internal stakeholders to align interfaces, resolve integration blockers, and ensure continuous integration of the stack into the IVI platform.
10. Experience with Bluetooth qualification tooling (sniffers/PTS) and supporting SIG qualification workflows.
11. Experience with Wi Fi certification processes, test labs, or automation harness expectations.
12. Exposure to coexistence/interference mitigation and RF/performance issue triage in complex environments.
13. Exposure to Bluetooth Audio Codecs.
14. Knowledge of network performance tuning and latency optimization.
15. Experience supporting Android platform upgrades and compatibility requirements (CTS/CDD alignment).
Additional Information:
1. The candidate should have minimum 7.5 years of experience in Automotive Digital Cockpit Solutions.
2. A 15 years full time education is required.
