We are looking for an experienced Relay Testing & Commissioning Engineer who will be responsible for testing, commissioning, configuration, troubleshooting, and maintenance of protection relays, control systems, and associated substation equipment for MV and HV projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Testing and commissioning of Control & Relay Panels up to 400kV.
- Perform testing and commissioning of protection relays and schemes for feeder, transformer, motor, generator, line differential, distance, and busbar protection systems.
- Carry out secondary injection testing, functional testing, scheme checks, and end-to-end testing activities.
- Configure, parameterize, and troubleshoot numerical relays and Protection IEDs.
- Integrate protection relays with SCADA systems and ensure interoperability of IEDs.
- Configure communication protocols such as IEC61850, Modbus, DNP3.0, and IEC60870-5-103.
- Create datasets, RCBs, GOOSE configuration, signal tagging, and communication mapping.
- Perform Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT), Site Acceptance Tests (SAT), and prepare commissioning reports.
- Use relay testing equipment such as Omicron, Doble, Ponovo, ISA, Freja, and similar test kits.
- Conduct troubleshooting, retrofit activities, relay replacement, and modification of existing protection systems.
- Analyze faults, identify abnormal system conditions, and provide corrective actions.
- Prepare technical documents such as test reports, relay setting sheets, schedules, and commissioning records.
- Provide customer support, training, and technical presentations when required.
- Travel across India and overseas for project execution and commissioning activities.
Required Skills:
- Strong knowledge of protection schemes including feeder, transformer, motor, generator, distance, differential, and busbar protection.
- Hands-on experience in relay testing, relay setting calculation, fault analysis, and commissioning activities.
- Knowledge of CT/PT circuits, schematic reading, wiring checks, and control logic verification.
- Experience with IEC61850 process bus and communication architecture.
- Understanding of networking basics, Ethernet switches, IP addressing, and communication troubleshooting.
- Ability to read SLDs, schematics, interlocking diagrams, and control wiring drawings.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
- Good communication and report writing skills.
- Self-motivated, disciplined, and willing to learn new technologies.

Qualification:
- B.E. / B.Tech in Electrical or Electrical & Electronics Engineering is mandatory.
