Key Responsibilities
- Machine Setup & Tooling: Mount and align workholding devices (chucks, collets, jaws) and select the correct cutting tools, inserts, and tool holders for turning operations.
- Tool Offsetting: Perform tool touching, measure offsets, and input precise geometry and wear offsets into the CNC controller
- Dry Runs & Prototyping: Execute dry runs and first-piece tryouts to verify tool paths, clearance, speeds, and feeds before mass production.
- Blueprint Interpretation: Read and analyze technical drawings, GD&T symbols, and process sheets to confirm dimensional requirements.
- Quality Inspection: Inspect initial and in-process components using precision measuring instruments like vernier calipers, micrometers, and bore gauges.
- Troubleshooting: Diagnose and correct machining issues, minor G-code/M-code adjustments, chatter, or dimensional variances during production runs.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Education: Diploma in Mechanical Engineering (DME), ITI in Machinist/Turner, or equivalent practical training.
- Experience: 2 to 5 years of hands-on experience setting up and operating CNC turning centers.
- Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of cutting parameters (feed rate, cutting speed, depth of cut), tool selection, and basic G/M code programming.
- Attention to Detail: Ability to work with strict tolerances and manage quality control standards.
