Job Description – Inspector Mechanical

About the opportunity
Location – Various Sites across India.
Inspector Mechanical will be responsible for inspection, monitoring, and supervision of mechanical works on a greenfield/ brownfield Project (Residential/ Industrial/ Transportation/ Aviation Sectors).
Inspect and monitor execution of mechanical systems, including but not limited to:
Process and utility piping (water, fuel, compressed air, firefighting, gas)
Pumps, compressors, tanks, pressure vessels
Mechanical equipment installation and alignment
HVAC mechanical equipment (chillers, AHUs, ducting – mechanical scope only)
Pipe racks, supports, trenches, and mechanical yards
Ensure all mechanical works are executed in accordance with:
Approved IFC drawings
Technical specifications
Method statements and ITPs
Applicable Indian and international codes and standards
Conduct quality inspections of materials, fabrication, erection, and workmanship, including verification of test results and inspection records.
Monitor mechanical construction progress against approved schedules and highlight quality, safety, or execution concerns with recommendations for corrective action.
Review contractor method statements, shop drawings, inspection records, test reports, and as‑built documentation related to mechanical works.
Witness and support mechanical testing, pre‑commissioning, commissioning, and handover activities, including pressure tests, alignment checks, and functional testing.
Coordinate with contractors, client representatives, civil/ structural inspectors, and other discipline teams to manage interfaces affecting mechanical works.
Maintain daily inspection reports, site diaries, NCRs, punch lists, photographs, and progress inputs for weekly and monthly reporting.
Ensure mechanical works comply with project HSE requirements, and report unsafe acts or conditions observed on site.
Review and advise approval for technical submittals, method statements, certification of payments.
Here's what you'll need
About You
Graduate in Mechanical Engineering with 5 to 8 years of relevant experience or
Diploma in Mechanical Engineering with 10 to 12 years of relevant experience.
Proven experience of working on mechanical execution and inspection for Residential/ Industrial/ Transportation/ Aviation projects.
Strong working knowledge of mechanical systems, including piping, mechanical equipment, HVAC mechanical components, utilities, and firefighting systems (mechanical scope).
Hands‑on experience in site inspections, material verification, workmanship checks, and quality documentation for mechanical works.
Familiarity with relevant IS / ASME / ASTM / API / project‑specific standards applicable to mechanical engineering.
Ability to read, interpret, and verify mechanical drawings, specifications, method statements, and inspection test plans (ITPs).
Exposure to mechanical testing, commissioning, and handover documentation is desirable.
Good communication and coordination skills to work effectively with contractors, consultants, QA/QC teams, and client representatives.
Detail‑oriented, safety‑conscious, disciplined, and capable of working efficiently in site‑based and demanding construction environments, including industrial or remote locations.
