The Civil Engineer is responsible for planning, supervising, and maintaining all civil infrastructure works across the school campus. The role includes overseeing construction projects, repairs, renovations, preventive maintenance, contractor management, quality assurance, and ensuring all civil works comply with safety standards and organizational requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise all civil construction, renovation, and maintenance activities on the campus.
- Inspect school buildings, classrooms, hostels, toilets, roads, compound walls, playgrounds, and other infrastructure regularly.
- Prepare estimates, BOQs (Bill of Quantities), cost analysis, and project budgets.
- Monitor project progress and ensure completion within approved timelines and budgets.
- Coordinate with architects, consultants, contractors, and vendors.
- Verify contractor bills, measurements, and work completion before payment processing.
- Ensure quality control by checking materials and workmanship according to specifications.
- Conduct preventive maintenance and recommend repairs before major failures occur.
- Prepare maintenance schedules and maintain records of all civil works.
- Ensure compliance with safety standards, building regulations, and statutory requirements.
- Monitor water supply systems, drainage systems, sewage lines, and rainwater harvesting structures.
- Attend emergency maintenance issues and coordinate immediate corrective actions.
- Conduct periodic structural inspections and report any safety concerns to management.
- Maintain inventory records for civil maintenance materials and tools.
- Recommend cost-effective solutions for infrastructure improvements.
- Coordinate with electrical, plumbing, and HVAC teams during integrated maintenance activities.
- Submit daily, weekly, and monthly progress and maintenance reports.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree/Diploma in Civil Engineering.
- Minimum 3–5 years of relevant experience (educational institutions preferred).
- Knowledge of construction methods, structural maintenance, estimation, and project management.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, MS Office, and basic project planning software.
- Knowledge of building codes, safety regulations, and quality standards.
