Job Description – Blast Hole Driller

Position Summary:
Golden Africa Resources is seeking an experienced Blast Hole Driller responsible for operating drilling machines to drill blast holes in open-pit mining operations as per mine plan and safety standards. The role requires strong technical expertise in surface drilling operations, equipment handling, and adherence to safety and production targets.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate blast hole drilling machines (DTH / Rotary drills) as per drilling plan.
- Ensure correct hole depth, diameter, and alignment as per blast design.
- Conduct pre-start inspection and routine maintenance of drilling equipment.
- Monitor drilling parameters such as penetration rate, air pressure, and rotation speed.
- Coordinate with blasting and mining teams for daily production targets.
- Ensure safe drilling practices in accordance with mine safety regulations.
- Identify and report equipment faults or operational hazards.
- Maintain daily drilling logs and production reports.
- Follow environmental and safety compliance standards at site.
Required Qualifications:
- Minimum Education: 10th / ITI preferred
- Certification in drilling operations (preferred)
- Valid heavy equipment operating license (if applicable)
Experience Requirements:
- Minimum 5–8 years of experience in blast hole drilling in open-pit mines
- Experience working in African mining projects preferred
- Hands-on experience with brands like Sandvik / Atlas Copco / CAT drill rigs
Required Skills & Competencies:
- Strong knowledge of drilling techniques and blast patterns
- Ability to read and understand drilling layouts and mine plans
- Basic mechanical troubleshooting skills
- High level of safety awareness
- Physically fit and able to work in remote mining locations
- Willingness to work rotational shifts

- Daily drilling meter achievement
- Machine uptime and maintenance adherence
- Zero safety violations
- Blast hole accuracy and quality compliance
