Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Contract Engineer to manage contract administration and commercial activities for real-estate development and construction projects. The candidate will be responsible for drafting and reviewing contracts, managing contractors and consultants, processing bills, handling variations and claims, and ensuring compliance with contractual terms throughout the project lifecycle.
Key ResponsibilitiesContract Administration
- Prepare, review, and administer contracts, work orders, LOIs, and subcontract agreements for civil, MEP, finishing, façade, landscaping, and other project packages.
- Review tender documents, BOQs, specifications, drawings, scope of work, and commercial conditions.
- Ensure contractors and vendors comply with contractual obligations, project specifications, timelines, and quality requirements.
- Maintain complete records of contracts, amendments, correspondence, approvals, and contractual notices.
Tendering & Procurement Support
- Prepare tender enquiries and commercial comparison statements.
- Review contractor quotations and identify deviations, exclusions, and commercial risks.
- Assist in contractor negotiations and finalization of rates and commercial terms.
- Support preparation of LOIs, work orders, and contracts.
Billing & Commercial Management
- Review and certify contractor/subcontractor RA bills in coordination with the site and QS teams.
- Verify quantities, measurements, rates, deductions, advances, retention, recoveries, and applicable taxes.
- Monitor contract values, committed costs, actual expenditure, and variations.
- Prepare cost and commercial reports for management.
Variations & Claims
- Identify and evaluate extra items, deviations, substitutions, and variations.
- Prepare rate analysis and variation proposals for client/management approval.
- Review contractor claims and supporting documentation.
- Assist in preparation and evaluation of Extension of Time (EOT), delay, and other contractual claims.
- Ensure timely issuance of notices for changes, delays, and contractual events.
Contractor & Stakeholder Management
- Coordinate with project managers, architects, consultants, planning, procurement, finance, and legal teams.
- Manage contractual communication with contractors, subcontractors, consultants, and vendors.
- Participate in commercial meetings and prepare MOM/action points.
- Assist in resolving contractual and commercial disputes.
Project Close-Out
- Monitor completion of contractual obligations and final documentation.
- Review final bills, reconciliation statements, retention releases, and contract closures.
- Assist with preparation of final accounts and settlement of outstanding claims.
- Ensure completion of contractual close-out requirements.
Required Skills
- Strong knowledge of construction contracts and contract administration.
- Good understanding of real-estate construction activities and project execution.
- Knowledge of BOQ, rate analysis, billing, measurements, and quantity reconciliation.
- Good understanding of variations, claims, EOT, delays, and contractual notices.
- Strong commercial and negotiation skills.
- Excellent drafting, documentation, and communication skills.
- Strong knowledge of MS Excel and MS Office.
- Experience with ERP/SAP/Oracle or other project commercial systems will be an advantage.
Preferred Experience
Candidates with experience in residential, commercial, high-rise, mixed-use, or large-scale real-estate projects will be preferred.
Experience handling contracts for civil, MEP, finishing, façade, waterproofing, elevators, HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and other construction packages will be an added advantage.
Qualification & Experience
- B.E./B.Tech/Diploma in Civil Engineering.
- 3–7 years of experience in contracts/commercial functions within real estate, construction, EPC, or infrastructure.
- Experience with a real-estate developer or PMC is preferred.
- Candidates should have hands-on experience in contractor management, billing, variations, claims, and contract administration.
