Job Summary
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Junior Design Engineer – Civil to support the engineering team in the design and drafting of civil and structural works for water and wastewater treatment plants, pumping stations, reservoirs, and allied infrastructure projects. The candidate will work under the guidance of senior engineers and gain hands-on experience in preparing engineering drawings, quantity estimation, and project coordination while ensuring compliance with applicable standards and project specifications.
Key Responsibilities
Civil & Structural Design Support
- Assist senior engineers in preparing civil and structural designs for water and wastewater treatment facilities.
- Develop engineering drawings including General Arrangement (GA) drawings, layout plans, foundation drawings, RCC detailing, reinforcement details, tank sections, retaining walls, equipment foundations, and structural components.
- Prepare detailed construction drawings based on approved design calculations and project specifications.
- Ensure all drawings comply with relevant IS Codes, project standards, and engineering best practices.
Drafting & Documentation
- Prepare and modify engineering drawings using AutoCAD.
- Maintain drawing registers, revision records, and document control as per company procedures.
- Incorporate review comments and issue revised drawings within project timelines.
- Organize design files, calculations, and supporting documents for easy retrieval.
Quantity Estimation & BOQ
- Assist in preparing Bills of Quantities (BOQ) for civil and structural works.
- Perform material take-offs from engineering drawings.
- Estimate quantities of concrete, reinforcement steel, excavation, backfilling, masonry, and finishing items.
- Support cost estimation by providing accurate quantity calculations.
Cross-Functional Coordination
- Coordinate with Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation, and Process Engineering teams to ensure integrated project designs.
- Participate in interdisciplinary design reviews and resolve drawing conflicts.
- Support coordination meetings by preparing necessary drawings and documentation.
Site Support
- Visit project sites whenever required to understand site conditions and assist in resolving construction-related drawing issues.
- Verify site measurements and provide clarification to construction teams under the guidance of senior engineers.
- Assist in recording site observations and updating drawings based on approved changes.
Quality & Compliance
- Ensure drawings adhere to applicable engineering standards, client requirements, and safety regulations.
- Follow company quality management procedures for design documentation.
- Support design verification and quality checks before drawing submission.
Learning & Professional Development
- Continuously enhance knowledge of civil engineering design practices, construction methods, and industry standards.
- Learn relevant design software, drafting techniques, and engineering codes under the guidance of experienced engineers.
- Participate in technical discussions, training sessions, and internal knowledge-sharing activities.
Required SkillsTechnical Skills
- Basic knowledge of AutoCAD for 2D drafting.
- Understanding of RCC structures, foundations, and construction drawings.
- Basic knowledge of civil engineering materials and construction practices.
- Familiarity with quantity estimation and BOQ preparation.
- Basic understanding of IS Codes related to civil and structural engineering is preferred.
- Knowledge of MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
Preferred Skills
- Internship or academic project experience in water treatment, wastewater treatment, industrial, or infrastructure projects.
- Exposure to AutoCAD Civil 3D, Revit, or STAAD.Pro will be an added advantage.
- Basic understanding of engineering document management systems.
Pay: ₹22,000.00 - ₹35,000.00 per month
